So. I've done this before on my 350 in my old 52 gmc w a camaro sub, but that was a million years ago and this old boy is a lil rusty. I have a 75 blazer now with a DRIVERS side dipstick and the blue gasket that's on there now is cracked and leaking (I can see the crack) . I think its the newer rubber style they sell. So I bought a cork gasket and the high temp rtv and ready to go on this deal this weekend. But what's the bolt Tightening sequence? I only want to do this once and don't want any screw ups. A simple list of instructions would be great !

"bolt tightening sequence"?
I don't want to steer anyone the wrong way, but you could do each bolt in small amounts, then a second round of equal added torque in a criss-cross fashion. That's how I do my transmission pans. Not sure if there is a difference.

Wouldn't mind hearing if there is. I'm sure you want to do a few first, to help hold the side gaskets in while the others are tightened. Not sure, never gave it much thought.

first, screw the cork gasket... go with the one piece fel-pro retro-fit.. dry... or with just a bit of gasket adhesive on one side.. it's a MUCH better setup than the old 4 piece corker..

as to sequence.. start from the middle of the rail on each side and work your way to the ends, going from side to side, like an intake..... i don't have my books here but iirc they are 12 ft/lbs... and anytime you have multiple fasteners like a pan or head, it's good to tighten in multiple steps... i'd do like 5 than go again to bring em to 12...

Wow thanks for the great replys!I did exectly as you said and took back the cork one and got the fancy blue universal dipstic one made by fel pro.its the HD one. 25 at the zone. I decided to go w no sealer as I've been doing some reading on here and I've read that the sealant is not needed -at least I hope-.Ive had silly small jobs like this take half a day before and I'm not into that ! Thanks again!:thumb:
