Ever run into that guy at the parts store?

The guy that REALLY wants to help you, but don't know sh*t.
Still making suggestions, but has NO CLUE what's going on.
Just kinda saying things? :haha:

Had that experience this morning.... It was a customer, too.
Not even an employee... Weird. :dunno:

I know this thread is semi-pointless.... But, my wife cares even LESS than you do.
:haha:

I've had it both ways...........
That doesn't sound right....................

Anyway, I have had times when the stranger knew nothing, and times when he knew more than everybody else.

Hey; I wasn't in Cali this morning!

Happens all the time. Usually it's me that's one of them. Most of the time I can help in the right direction though. I hate talking to most parts guys though. Have no clue about anything usefull most of the time. I try to pick out the older guy at the parts counter so at least maybe they have some knowlege. I hate getting the 19 year old chick that just runs the numbers and has not one clue what the part is or how it's supposed to look. "Is this it"? Five times with no being the answer I just wana hang my head and try not to laugh. It really doesn't help my truck is a mix of parts from 72-87. Lol

Hi can I help you?

What size engine does it have?

?? 350.

Is that an automatic?

Does it have the silverado trim.

It's a freaking head lamp! It is the same no matter what trim or motor or transmission! Christ!

I'm sorry but I need it for the computer.

Arghh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you told them where to stick their screw driver.

HAHAHA, priceless. I just had this same experience with my wife's car, and of course i didn't know the trim off hand and they refused to go any further until i went outside to check.

Oh yea...

I've had a guy ask me, "YOU'RE SURE IT'S AN SR5 MODEL!?"

- "Yes... I'm sure.... And, also... THE WIPERS ARE ALL THE SAME!!!!" :haha:

I look all parts up online, print them out and walk in with part numbers.

Then go to the shop counter and hand them the list. They like getting me parts. Not a lot of work.

I do that often do--then if the parts turn out to be wrong, they can blame ME instead of the other way around!..

One day long ago at an Autozone I was waiting in line to get waited on..

I heard the guy in front of me ask for a "complete tune up for a Chevette, you know,plugs,wires,cap,rotor..."..the kid at the counter looked like he'd been there maybe 3 or 4 days..did his best though..got the computer to list the car,and show the tune up parts...then he asked the customer "is that a gas or diesel engine?"..

The guy sighed, and walked away, and said "never mind!"...:doah:....

I was next--all I wanted was wiper blades for the caravan, one flew off on the highway and I had to buy another one,and of course there was no chart to tell you what size,at the blade display...

I told the kid what year and model it was, asked what size do I need?..the kid starts asking "is it delay wipers?..you want the rear wiper or front?...do you want winter blades or summer type"?"or refills?"...."is it"......I cut him off before he said another word, and I pointed to the listings on the computer ,and I said "I asked what SIZE it takes, thats ALL!.."look--ALL the listings end with "16",so they are 16"..thats all I needed to know!..

OH!"....16"..
...THANK YOU!..

You know what scares me now about these stores..they let these people plug in a scanner to tell you whats wrong with the car.....its a great way to sell expensive,non-returnable electrical parts!..so what if it failed to fix the problem and shut off that pesky CEL..(cash eliminator light)..its not our fault!..:dunno:..

My friend told me the other day while he was buying oil at Autozone,a woman came in and said to one of the kids behind the counter "remember me?--you sold me the rear view window glue awhile ago!--well,I goofed and glued that metal thing on backwards, now what do I do?..

The kid says "Oh,I cant take care of that for you"..and he reaches under the counter and grabs a large pair of vise grips, and heads out the door with the woman leading the way...when the manager who was getting the oil filter for my friend came back to the counter,he says "hey--that new kid?--he just went outside to take the rear view mirror button off that ladys car with vise grips!"...

His face turned white, and he runs outside screaming "WAIT--WAIT"--"Dont take that thing off like---"...too late!--the kid has it in the vise grips already.and he's like "what"????....."It came right off dude!--no problem!"..:thumb:...The manager proceeds to ream him out for risking busting her windsheild and he just let it go in one ear and out the other...
..He didn't last long there..

Actually a lower trim level will have a different head lamp.

halogen high beam; notice I didn't say I need a Halogen head lamp. The dual is a low beam and a high beam. The single would be I need a halogen head lamp. But yea my gripe is they used to have charts at the wipers and bulbs. Not no more!

That is still a valid question for them to ask, it has to be answered to get to the next step to find the part number in the computer.

Don't know if they have them in Colorado, but here they have Advance Auto parts. Now you would think,
"Hey I'll go to their website, printout what I need and take it to them. It'll be easier." RIGHT?!?!

Well do that and they will promptly inform you...
"That's NOT OUR WEBSITE! It's run by ANOTHER COMPANY!"

What a crock :angry1::angry1:
