Been going through the death wobble threads. One problem very few say if it was solved.

So here we go. Have you had death wobble? What axle and how did you fix it.

I have had death wobble on a Dana 60 fixed it by putting washers under the steering arms to make the kingpin tighter

During my build I had DW on my D60. EVERYTHING new including all steering linkage. Turned out my caster was off due to long shackles with a 52" spring swap. I installed shorter shackles that brought my caster in to spec and the problem was solved.

Had it with a D 60 front. New nylon bushings, new springs...a d 1/8" worth of washers fixed it. Installed some super soft Alcan's and it ca.e back with a vengeance. The only way I tamed it was addi g enouh washers to bind the KP springs.

This was before all the new products out there for D60 fronts.

I fixed mine with hydro assist. Dana 60. New everything. Still had it. I'm sure the 42" Bias TSL's is the problem.

My ten bolt had it....fixed it by going to tons.

It came back again, only have done kingpin spring and bushings in mine. King pins looked okay. Unsure of lower bearings, but everything's right on jack stands. Put a dual steerin stabilizer on....haven't looked back.

Some say its a bandaid, but hey it's a offroad rig not a DD

If it kills a bus load of nuns I'll worry about that when/if it happens :haha:

Mine was fixed by either adding 4 degree shims to compensate for the long shackles with 52's, springless arms, or the bronze bushings because they all went in at the same time.

Dana 60, worn out 48" mystery 6" lift springs I bought used. Rotated the front rear shackle hanger (as you would home with brew 52" swap mod). Cross tied shackels and new hanger bushings fixed it enough to drive it. It would rarely happen if I bit a bump the wrong way. But after I removed springs noticed shims where pretty flattened/worn/grooved out. which makes me think caster was off. My brother in-law had a 3/4 ton k5 with some 4-6" inch springs I gave him, off a truck I parted. K5 drove great. But it was very rusted. He bought a burb super cheap. Swapped out springs and axles from k5 to burb. But....he used shackles (front) that where 2-3"s longer. Got the DW replaced everything steering related still didn't fix. And tbis was with stock tires. I kept telling him it was shackles and caster was off but he ended up selling. He lived out of state from me at the time. Sold it to help move instate. Also another scenario. Buddy put 3/4 ton Axles with 38 bias tsls. On his k5 and made his shackles a inch or 2 longer.....got the DW...replaced all steering and suspension bushings....DW came only rare occasions...I think caster plays a huge role in the DW but when you have a lot of worn out parts just make it more susceptible to it. Also track bar helps. My dads jeep wrangler got it bad. Replaced track bar bushings and fixed it....

I got death wobble once in the jimmy the whole time I had it..doin 25 down a forest road in Tillamook state forest after hitting a shallow pot hole on the driver side. It was so bad I had to pull over and stop. Never got it again ever and I daily drove the thing for 2 years.

When we put new arms on the D60 and put it in Ned, found a broken kingpin spring on the front. from the looks of it, it had been broken for long time before I owned the truck.

I had it with my Dana 60. My caster angle was off so I put in shorter shackles. At the same time I installed hydro assist.

I don't know if the caster correction fixed it, but if it didn't, the hydro assist covered it up.

I also had it with my 10 bolt before swapping axles. I ended up have a split belt in one of my front tires, causing a bubble in the tread of the tire. Got new tires and that solved the problem.

My worn out, sloppy and bent up D60 was fine. Rebuilt it and had death wobble. Put a center mounted balanced steering ram on. No more death wobble.

Stock 10 bolt, all new ball joints tie rod ends new drag link new stabilizer wheel bearings and new tires . I don't know what fixed it but it's gone lol

i got the wobbles after cross over steering and all new joints and then changed my toe in to 1/8 inch instead of 1/4 inch all better now
