The "I thought you said it was only going to cost....." 1991 Jimmy Build

I like what you are doing with it!!!

As far as the headlights, I put Hella E-code ones in my '95 work truck. (Still 5x7)
I like then a lot over the sealed beam ones, even with the standard 55w/60w bulbs. They cost me $150 shipped from a place called Headlight Services.

As far as LED options, I will just say that I saw what @azblazer went through, and the JWSpeaker ones are very good.

Thanks!! I will need to look into lights here shortly, I live in Washington state and being so far north, it is already starting to get dark early. Next weekend I will likely try to get the metal repair done in the cab so I can finalize the dynamatting and start getting the rest of the rubber flooring down. Wish I could work on it this weekend but on a plane bound for Disneyland with the wife and daughter right now......

I'm loving those wheels and the direction of your build. You definitely have the same end goals as I have for my '90. Mine also was a fleet vehicle for TPWD then a local sheriff office.

LOVE this build! Maybe its because mine got so out of control... but I love these mild "driver" builds. So clean

(currently cruising through Craigslist looking for a clean, stock K5)

If you saw my other two builds going on you would understand why this one is what it is..... First is my cj7. This is nearing completion aside from the fact that it will be coming completely apart after finishing for an acid bath, sealer and paint before rebuild. That is a stroked 2002 4.0l out of a wj that will eventually be blown, vn4500, arb 44/9", Wilwood calipers like the k5, hydraulic assist, ac conversion, etc etc etc. It is a true restomod that has had no expense spared. Lots of fab work and unique touches..... But still a driver.

The other that I am just starting into tear down on is a "break the bank" build. A early, silver dash.... '63 etype/xke Jaguar. It is going to be a period correct driver (you sense a theme ) but with a couple simple "functional driver" enhancements. It will likely have fuel injection hidden under classic styled SU triples, be converted to negative ground and an alternator vs stock positive ground and generator set up. That one is a total rustbucket but iconic...

The k5 has trumped them both build time this summer just because I really wanted to get it up and going as a daily commuter. I just finished up some of the additional rust repair on the interior yesterday...... Will post some pics when I get time...

Some photos of the rust repair..... I still might hammer it out a touch (comically still so much straighter than the factory had it on this or the other side due to their spot welds) but happy to just have some good metal back in there. After finishing it, everything was sprayed with the Rust Bullet metal prep and then rust pullet applied. I will likely repaint it at some point to match the factory color but there were also some small panels included in my rubber flooring kit that cover these areas so I might just go that route as well. Now that this is done and I am done grinding paint and metal, I can get on with dymnatting the rest of the interior......
