The Joy of water leaks

Yes peeling back seals like that can sure be messy. There must be a reason why it was used.
A nice side note. Like many I always thought my dash lamps were a tad dim. While I don't care for super bright instruments I assumed I would end up with dimmable LED bulbs in the cluster. However after cleaning my cluster lenses inside and out I checked my bulbs. The 168s were filthy! So all I did was clean them and boom! Perfect for me!
Now that I said that we all know a bulb will burn out as soon as I put it all back together!

Yeah, I decided to convert to LED when I hard wired my cluster. Aside from some learning experiences on how to make the stock bulb sockets work, it was totally worth the effort. Not interested in having to pull that thing out in the future for something like a bad bulb. :)

It's a fair bit of work, but a rewarding project.

My heart just isn't into it. When a bulb burns out maybe I'll change my mind.
I went the LED pannel on a boat I use at night. Totally worth if, I know what your saying.
Hey, what's the deal when replacing dash speakers? I picked up a set of aftermarket 3.5 inch. Is the problem they can be 2 tall and the pad interferes? Figured I would do them now with the pad out.

My aftermarket speakers, and most that I have seen, just don't seem to fit right. They are a tad too wide for the original hole. Some just cut the hole a little, although my speakers kind of just sit higher than the stock ones. To each his own I guess. I'm sure there is a brand of speaker that will actually fit, but who knows?

By sitting higher is their an interference fit with the dash pad?

I don't notice a problem when the daspad is on. The sound is a little muffled, but that's expected with the pad on.

Just a final note as my leaks are gone. Reassembled the dash this weekend with out further cracking the pad. For anyone looking for drop in dash speakers my

Pioneer TS-A878 mounted to the factory brackets and we're a drop in fit. They sound a heck of a lot better then the stockers.
