I'm going to order a spring for the antenna. Radio shack didn't have one in stock when I got the 102" whip and mirror mount (which I hacked to get the mount you see in the pics).

Nice. I going to get one also. Damm, that's a long antenna. Tune in tokyo! Nice! Install looks clean. That's a nice smooth headliner.

Looks great!

How did you secure the CB to the roof?

Any cops ever hassled you about that stop sign in the garage? We had a 25MPH sign in my buddy's shop that I got from my grandma (no idea where she got it) and a sheriff happened to drive by one day when the bay door was open. He stopped and asked if I had a receipt for it - of course I didn't so he tossed the sign in his trunk and took off...

Thanks!

I secured it to the headliner by cutting a piece of wood trim and securing that to the headliner with a few metal screws, then attaching the standard metal mount to the wood. It's a nice clean install.

I've never been harassed about the stop sign, and my neighbor across the street is a sherrifs officer!! But then again I'm good friends with my neighbor:crazy:

wow.......It's been over 25 years since I even thought about having a CB....

with all the new wave technology out there, I thought these would be long dead by now...

I guess it would be cool to have one on trail runs etc...juggling a cell phone while driving thru the woods in no fun....IF you can even get cell coverage...

so....what would be a good CB to have today ??? Cobra 40 channel ? :dunno:

i'm with you there...well, it'll be 19 years for me though. i know i had a Cobra 29 and a K40 antenna floating around that i liked back in the day.....maybe one of my 2 ex wives knows where it is.

It's the redneck internet.

Well I originally put it in because the local 4x4 club would use them on the trail. Since my local trail closed :sign19: I can also use the PA speaker to hoot and holler at purty girls when I go mall crawlin'.

That's the same reason I put mine in. The same one as garydan. Cobra 29. I got it off CL from a trucker that changed professions. I also plan on going camping off the beaten path where there is no camp sites and no people( well hopefully, nekkid camping) just kidding. That would be hard to camp in a place with no people, but in a place where there is no cell reception. If I were to buy a new CB, it would be one that had NOAA channels. But fron what little research I did, you can't go wrong with a Cobra 29.

I've always had CB's in my rigs. In my hometown it was common for folks to use cb's since cell reception was minimal. But you get up on a mountain top and you can get a signal out a ways. Good if you're out hunting/camping/offroading/whathaveyou.

Now we use them for driving on the highways. alot of truckers still have them and we've gottn road reports/closures, weather info, and even help finding a truck stop for fuel when we were moving and I was low on diesel in the moving van. We actually had one trucker let me know when I blew a trailer tire and didnt know it. And sometimes its just fun to chitchat with folks. My only beef is the douchebags that run a hot mic and swear nonstop. OR the guys running all the goofy noise **** that makes everything they say unitelligible.
