Like my new ride? I got a smokin deal on it! Cruises down the interstate nice, just wanders a bit, but that may be due to a rare option on '76's with 84 Cabs, vise grips holding the steering shaft on.
Haha, Just kidding, this my buddy's truck that he's building, last you saw it the bed was being ripped off, since then the new cab has been off, had the floor replaced, (with metal from the hood) and now it's back on.
It's a 76 K10 that he got for free from his grandpa. He planned on just building it into a mud truck, but later those plans changed into getting it back on the road.
(Half ass build below)
The day he brought it home
He plans on having it running and moving by Christmas, and being on the road by July.
Running and moving means,
- Get the cab bolted down
- Find another lock cylinder
- Get the 454 in it
- Put a radiator in it
- Find an SM465 or NV4500
Which being done means,
- Get rockers and cab corners on
- Cut the serial tags from the old cab, get them on the 84 cab.
- Find a bed
- Get the 84 Front clip on
- Build his 4 inch lift
- Paint the whole thing Oliver green
- Find the saddle color interior bits
- Find a windshield and back window
- Get the 305 another friend has
- Rebuild and bore said 305 .030 over.
- Find the "choppy" cam he wants
- Find the 35's he wants
He really plans on this being done by July, and usually if he sets his mind to something, it happens, so we'll see.
Also, in town today I found this, My friend thinks I'm crazy, but for some reason I really like it.
83 C20, 350, TH400, 132,000 miles, Not one spot of actual rust, worst part of it is the floor material is a bit tore up where the driver's feet would go.
I tried to decode the VIN, and found out that it is a St. Louis built truck, that's neat.
The door strikers even still have their little collars on them, so the doors close nice, tailgate works like it's brand new as well.
I've got nothing to spend, but I still found myself really attracted to this truck.
