well last week in the north east we had all that rain that dumped on us. well in my area just down the road thay got massive flooding. rain storm alone in just over 24hrs the 1 town got just under 12" rain. and its also the major spot were 3-4 rivers all conect and make a huge river. well it all backed up bad.

so my 1 friend called and said were he works thay got hit bad. 8-10 ft :eek1: in the shop deep. well his tool box now has to be full wash clean and invitory for whats needed for replacement.

i told him since i am not working bring it to my house and i will help the clean up . going to use lots of water and purple power cleaner. then metal rescue clean up rust remover and then there sealer product. figure got to give it a try or total wash on his job will happen.

so i got some pics loaded. and its all got a oil slime along with mud slime on it since it was in the shop and all the oil tanks got flooded and pushed oil out. but the purple power takes it right off.

i also got all the draws rinsed out and the tools washed off for a first strike on clean up. dont wana play with mud when dry.

and here is the metal rescue http://www.metalrescue.com/home.aspx

i think it will be o.k. in the end. the muds coming out easy n fast. and i will pull all drawers and wash good inside. then she can dry and get a good coat of wd40 to help protect from rust.

the outside will get a good wash and wax. its already lookin better since i gave it a pre wash.

then the tools will clean up good in the end.

mabye he can get good trade in on the local snap-on truck and no one will be the wiser. :haha:

well the drawers are all out and the whole box is basicly washed out and no oil film left all over it.

the metal rescue used as thay say heated to around 150* on a hot plate in a pan strips rust off so good. well worth its money for full rust removale.

more pics to come.

Man, I dunno. Doesn't look salvageable to me.
Just box it up, and I'll dispose of it for him.......

Be advised, while I love WD40, usually buy it by the gallon, and could not live without it, it is not a good rust preventive.
It will move water real well, hence the name, and will degrease like crazy.
Its even a good lubricant, just never never never use it on lug nuts.

But, the film it leaves will mostly evaporate and let stuff rust.
Found that out the hard way.

its a flood box so its going to rust. but we did it for a little help anyway.

its all cleaned and waxed on the outside.

took all the drawer slides and washed them in diesel fuel to get the mud out of the trucks and bearings. then lubed them back up good.

didnt get any clean pics as he needed it back for work and it was dark the night he picked it up.

but will def get pics of before n after of the rust removal stuff that WORKS GREAT !!!

otherwise didnt loose much and should get out just under 1k bucks in loss of tools/and clean up supplys.
