The new Garage

I'm tired of working in my tiny 2 car garage so I'm finally building a big (30'x60') shop to work in.
The shingles were delivered yesterday, they're on the roof right now installing them. I should be able to get some drone shots when I get home.
Most of the shingles are done. They'll be coming back next week to finish the patio roof tie in to the garage and to cut the corner off the house to give me more clearance. Looks much better than bare wood!
The GC was nice enough to give me a chance to paint the upper portion of the garage before they started the stucco, saved a lot of masking and taping (not to mention NOTHING sticks to stucco...).
It's starting to look like part of the house finally with the shingles and paint! I can't wait till they get it stuccoed and get the doors in, hopefully that will be done in the next 2 weeks. It's looking like they may hand it over to me early March.

A lot has been said on here about spray foam. The GC for my house told me that I should make them use closed cell.

When I'm getting ready to do the insulation I'll get a price on doing the spray foam, however I'm guessing I'll end up doing batting in the walls since it's easier to DIY.
You might consider 3" of closed cell foam on the roof line only. Being where you are you stand to gain more from deflecting the heat of the sun in the summer than anything.
My GC said the companies doing the spraying make more money off the open cell and therefore push it as being better.
If I only do a little of the spray foam it would def be in the attic.
There was only minor progress last week. The GC was at a trade show so not much got done. They did get the trim installed around the garage doors, so Amber and I painted that yesterday.
I think the stucco is going to be done this week. I hope they put the ceiling drywall in soon, I've got tons of pigeons roosting in the rafters... Pigeon shit everywhere...

my pellet gun is too powerful, I'd put holes through the roof. I need to get an airsoft gun or something less powerful.
Consider hanging some netting over the doorways?
That's a big net... I asked my GC if he can bump up the schedule to put the ceiling drywall in. I also ordered an airsoft gun on Amazon that will be delivered later today

The issue is that there are constantly subs coming and going, not to mention a 14x14 piece of plastic isn't going to stand up to a stiff breeze (which we've had a lot of lately).
Apparently with all the rain we've gotten in the last couple weeks the subs are running behind, so I'm not sure when the stucco is going to start.

I don't know how things are down in your area but here in our area the subs keep about 4 different jobs going all the time.
They just float around from one to the other.
Usually working one day a week on each job.
They spend more time packing up and moving from one job to the next than they spend actually working.
Not to mention when they do work they take 2 -15 minute smoke breaks per hour and bill the job as if they spend all of their time working.
When I was building my house I had to get all of the subs contact info and take over their scheduling.
I had to get in front of each one, look them in the eye and make them give me a start and completion date.
Then I had to hold their feet to the fire to get them to do what they said they would do.
Once they were all gone I started row cropping cigarette butts.

I have a GC that is doing all of that for me, he's been pretty awesome up to this point so I'm not going to interfere. There are cigarette butts everywhere though, that and nails, so many nails...
Not much progress today, but some. I had the GC cut back the corner of my existing garage to give me more room to maneuver the RV into the new garage. Hopefully it's enough.

Good call cutting that roof back, I was thinking that looked awfully tight before.
Don't know what it is w/ this site, but I dont always get updates to sub'd threads. Looks alot better w/ the shingles on. Almost looks like a real bldg!
