The new Garage

I'm tired of working in my tiny 2 car garage so I'm finally building a big (30'x60') shop to work in.
The biggest thing that I would have done differently is really just a minor thing. If I had made it 65' long instead of 60', I could have had the RV in the shop with the trailer attached while prepping for trips. The extra space would have been nice for other things as well, but as I said it's really just a minor annoyance rather than a huge problem.

I have done big projects before, this was obviously the biggest, so I didn't have any major problems. I've been planning this garage out in my head for the entire 15 years I've been living in this house, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do.

Minor update. The new insulation in the ceiling is great! The shop stays cooler than my house (which we already have the A/C running in). It should make it a whole lot more comfortable over the summer.

We're working on finishing touches inside the shop now. To protect the corners of the bathroom, we installed 2" angle aluminum. I think it looks good, we'll have to see how it lasts, I may have to upgrade to stainless or regular steel. I also tiled the roof of the bathroom with peel and stick tiles, nothing fancy, just something to protect the wood when we use that space for storage. I plan on putting a set of shelves up there in the near future, but didn't feel like tackling that today.

I also ordered cabinets. I ordered 30 of these: https://shopnewage.com/collections/...-cabinet-24-inch-50002?variant=31638022324290
We'll be wall mounting them in a row along the wall over the toolboxes and some over by the sink area (and probably a few in the other garage). I'm always needing storage, so I just decided to go for it. I'll install under cabinet lighting to eliminate the shadows these are going to cause as well.

They're supposed to ship by the 20th, so I'll update once they get in.

The first cabinet took a while to get right.

The next 10 went pretty quick though. I finally have a place to display some "art" too!

We're going to go back out and get some more installed, but they look great so far!

We put some eye bolts into the wall to hold our Kayaks up and did a bit of organizing around the first set of cabinets.

Then we installed 8 more on the other side of the garage.

We've still got 11 more to install tomorrow, but so far it's looking great!

We moved one of the shelving units on top of the bathroom, but it looks super sketchy. I plan on putting stuff that I rarely use (tile tools, drywall tools, paint guns etc) up there, but I think I need to at least bolt the thing to the wall to make me feel better about it.

Is the space between the upper cabinets for a commercial grade beer fridge?
That's where the 2 post lift goes, but good idea!

We spent the rest of the day cleaning up. We found new homes for everything, swept and mopped and took all the cardboard to a recycling dropoff.

Here's our first attempt at finding homes for everything:

We still have a ton of stuff on shelves in the old garage that we need to move into the shop now that we have cabinets. But we're done for today.

Now I need to order a 2 post lift...
