I'm tired of working in my tiny 2 car garage so I'm finally building a big (30'x60') shop to work in.

Didn't @ktmoutfront just buy a Bendpak? I only have experience with the power company and lifts. We were maxing out the old 16 or 18k ones and went up to the 20k and in my opinion you can't have too much when it comes to a lift. I guess you need to factor in price though. My current work one is an old Mohawk 12k. Some of those bigger Bendpak ones are pretty sweet.
 
I have a 12k rotary and I love it. I don't have any experience with any other lifts, so I can't offer much help with comparisons. However, this lift has controls on both sides, and that comes in handy way more often than you'd think. Certainly not a "big" deal, but if you can get that in whatever lift you buy, I'd do it.

*edit* actually, I don't know if it's available in any lift, but some sort of variable speed control would be nice. Trying to slowly lower the vehicle down onto something can be a bit of a pain. Again, I've never used any other lift, so maybe that is just par for the course.

You could possibly put a flow control valve in the return line and adjust the speed of the lowering that way. Not 100% sure. https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/category_hydraulics+hydraulic-valves+adjustable-flow-valves The Mohawk one I have at work isn't too bad for lowering speed.
 
loved the 12k rotary i had at my old job . dam good overall size for anything from a tiny car to crew cab 4x4 diesel .

and the overall size is smaller than the bendpak units of the same size . friend has one and its all a 18k lift but undersized parts to make it a 12k lift . he likes it for big box trucks but small cars sucks .
 
I bought that same 10k lift. Had a bend pak in my first Colorado shop. Loved it. Lifted my 3500hd CCLB Duramax 4x4 with no issues.
 
I looked at the 12K rotary lifts, they're quite a bit more expensive and don't have some of the features I liked about the BendPak but they look nice and do have a bit more height, although I think the height on the BendPak will be sufficient for me.

Do you have your lift installed yet @ktmoutfront ? Pictures?

Did you have to have a forklift to take delivery? That's something I'm trying to figure out too.
 
Nope. Got the floor cut and removed for the foundation. Unknown floor thickness and cracks lead to this. Then the hip failure occured. Now I have too much work to be able tut o fet back to it.

Did you go with a Moog hip replacement instead of an OEM one or something?

Basically. 11 years ago the metl on metl were all the rage. I questioned it. Ended up tearing the metal off of the bones. New joint has 2 plastic, I am sure there is a technical name for them, bearings with a floater shim in between. Those can be replaced later if needed.
 
if there cool . tell them loading dock and have a rollback tow truck come slide it off on there bed and then drop it in your shop and slide out from under it .

i use to move so much stuff when i was towing with a rollback tow truck .

got this one off the upper deck of the semi trailer outside edge ( the single lift not stacked up in the center one ) no forklift or anything else . had it slid on in under 5 min time . then delivered to my buddys shop and slid in the bay he was installing it in .

I don't have a forklift so that makes this more difficult.

I may just have it delivered to his shop, then go over with my flatbed trailer and have him load me up. I'm just trying to figure out what my options are.

I was going to suggest that, but having him drive the forklift over sounds a lot cooler.

I had originally thought I'd be buying a forklift for the shop, but I just can't justify that I'll use it enough to put up with having to store and maintain it.
