well, i figured it was time to post a few pics of my work in progress.
i got this burb to use as a donor truck for a scout i was working on, but i ended up selling the scout and keeping the burb. soooo. i cut it up.
i first say that my pics are incomplete because some asshat stole my phone with most of my fab pics on it, so i have cobbled together some pics so far.
i have been working on this since last september and will have it ready by may to cruise the southwest in the summer time.
without further rambling here are a few pics.
i will post more pics of the build process as time permits, but as i said earlier most of my good in depth fab pics are forever gone.
lemme know what you think.

more pics

here are a few of the chop process.
the rear window is from a ramcharger tailgate that i cut in half. i then built a bulkhead and framed the window in with sheetmetal and 1/8 in rod.
the rear window is removeable as i plan to run it without doors this summer.

wow, never seen that done before.

Way cool! Sucks about your phone, I'm sure there would have been some droolalistic pics in there.

a little rust repair before the paint.
i removed the hood emblem and filled it in.

paint is single stage jeep rescue green.

i sprayed my 2k primer on like drywall texture and then sprayed the color. i tried to get it to look like rhino lining. it turned out ok. now ive got a lot of work painting all my accessories, and reinstalling them.

I think you did a great job cutting it up, I still hate the huge overhang with burbs though.

Overall very nice job on the conversion

That looks sweet! I had the same idea a while ago too .... But I decided to go the easy route and buy an avalanche instead. I'm kinda jealous though... I love that look for an off-road vehicle. Kinda like Cousin willard on ORD's website.

Take some pictures of your barn doors please. Did you add another set of hinges?

Martin

Never mind. I looked back and saw that there are two hinges per door. Did you have to move the upper set, are is that where they are?

Very similar to what I did to my old burb...only yours is 1000 x cleaner. Nice work :thumb:

i did nothing to the rear hinges. all i did was gut the doors and cap the tops with 1/8" plate. i filled in the lock cylinder hole.
