The \"plan\" for CK5 growth

I thought it over and here is the plan:

1. Get rid of the free sites.
This will return more control back to CK5 and allow everything to be located here and cut out the rediculous bandwidth bills. I may offer free sites in the future but will handle them myself or offer some kind of pay for space program.

2. Hire someone to contact vendors as my salesforce to get some advertising revenue here, I could offer a percentage of the revenue brought in. I know Mudzer asked me about this before, Neil give me a call?.

3. Get more merchandise in to sell.

4. Become distributor for more products under another URL to try and keep CK5 as unbiased as possible.

I still want to keep the site free if at all possiable, we have a good thing going so far, just going through major growing pains. Lets keep CK5 alive and kicking major asss.

PS I will delete the rest of the spawned posts to keep it simple.

Here is my mailing address if you would like to contribute.

I am home all day. I can help contact vendors Steve. Send me a pm or something to get me started. If you can send me your phone # and I can give you a call. Donna is also willing to help.

Re: The \"plan\" for CK5 growth

Steve, I think this is a really good plan, and you know everybody here will support whatever you decide to do.

May I add a bit of caution? PLEASE don't over extend yourself... The plan has some good aspects, but will it take care of all the time aspects as well? The time aspect will help with someone doing advertising, but will that be enough???

Lets make sure that whatever solution we put in place it is a long term solution for you and all of us as members.

If there is anyway the membership base can help relieve some more of the TIME problems please send private PM's to whatever members you feel comfortable with.

Re: The \"plan\" for CK5 growth

Well, since it appears that this site will survive, i have changed the name of the board I set up. The url is still the same (can't change that), but the actual name is now "Alternate K5" to avoid confusion. I don't intend for it to be competition, just as a backup site. Here's the URL again:

Re: The \"plan\" for CK5 growth

I just want to remind everyone that just because Steve has a plan for the growth and survival of CK5, that doesnt mean that he still doesnt need our donations. Steve would never ask for a dollar if he could help it, but as you can see he needs help, with time and money. Steve has a heck of a bill waiting to be paid and he needs help. So now is the time for everyone to step up and send what you can. I have put my 50 dollar check in the mail already this morning... how about the rest of you?? Lets help Steve out, he has sure helped all of us out over the years....

Hey Steve,

This is just a thought, but what do you think about setting up a http://www.paypal.com/ account.
It sure would make it easy for alot of use to help you out by being able to use our plastic, and you would recieve the money in your account right away.
You would also be able to sell your merchandise the same way with no middle man.
Like I said, it was just a thought.

See Ya,
Keith

Re: The \"plan\" for CK5 growth

Here in my town (Sacramento) there are a few truck shops that sell 4x4 stuff (actually quite a few being so close to the Rubicon) .... these places are smaller then say 4WPW yet do a fair amount of business and are great places. I know I never see them having ads in magazines due to cost probably kills it for them. But you do have that section where they can have a link to their site where people can get in touch with them... the cost for that would be far less and maybe something they could/would do. Win for them getting more business and win for you pulling in revenue. Someone who is going to be doing calling in search of vendors or finding these types of businesses might appreciate having people make up lists of these places in their towns and emailing them on to them. It would save them a lot of time and energy scouring around to locate contact info. I'm just saying this out of I thought it could save time and who knows better what local stores are the best and treat their customers the best then the customers! I'm not trying to side track your ideas or bring up a whole other topic... just trying my best to help out and make life easier in the area of finding vendors/advertisers

Steve, I had never heard of PayPal before today. I just sent a "Life Line" and it work great. You really need to charge a fee for your service. Bill Hughes
