The poor Blazer, interesting results though....

At least it was only a '96 Blazer. No big loss there. Crazy on the difference of cabin damage between the two.
I imagine the results would look similar from a '66 'burb to a '96 'burb. Crumple zones and other modern engineering advancements are truly a marvel for safety. Not to mention seatbelts becoming mandatory from the factory in that time frame.

A while back they had this test...poor car...
You wouldn't guess it by looking at them but the results speak for themselves, that must of been pre collapsible steering column even...
It's not just the crumple zone but the the unibody construction vs body on frame.
The body is relying on frame but not one with it, so a strong unibody peels off the other body off the frame and destroys it.
It would be a different story though with a lifted truck where the bumper takes the hit.

My Escalade and the truck that hit me. I don't know which rig was worse, the floor buckled and rolled in my cargo area on the Escalade.
