The rebuild of Big Bird, 1970 Blazer

my thoughts exactly!

Cyclone may be new to CK5, but he's certainly no "newb" when it comes to finding his way around a shop and tools.

Well done sir, way to make the rest of us hacks look bad. :haha:

Was going to say, "Can't wait to see this finished" but at this rate, it doesn't look like I will have to wait at all.

The progress looks great!

Yeah no kidding.

STEP 1: Replace all rusty sheetmetal
STEP 2: Paint Truck
STEP 3: Re-Assemble and Enjoy!!!

This guy's making me feel worthless about myself for sure! :D

:-)... I cannot wait to be driving it! I'm going for steady progress with a looming deadline.. Granted it took setting a deadline for me to get building... And every time I slack my buddy harasses me relentlessly... Guess it's paybacks for me doing the same to him on his project... ;-)

Off to Fall Carlisle swap meet this morning to hopefully find some lower quarters, inner kick panels and new door weatherstripping... Maybe some new seats too...

Good lord. Talk about not wasting any time! That's some serious cutting.

So progress today was emptying my wallet at Fall Carlisle... :-(

However, to avoid shipping cost I was able to pick up all the Keyparts TriPlus parts needed for reassembled:

1. 67-68 steel cowl induction hood... Sweet....
2. 68 left and right fenders with marker light cutouts
3. 67-68 Radiator Core
4. 67-68 Grill and inserts
5. Kick patches
6. Quarter Patches

Also, I've been trying to score a set of 2007 new interior seats from a suburban/Denali.. I need drivers front seat (still looking) but found a single second row captains which will become the front passenger seat, and found the third row seats that will become the second row... Score...

Had to test the fit... :-)

Now to finish all the remaining metal patches and make mounting brackets for the new seats...

Just dropped in to say I'm impressed and I'll be watching the progress! Nice work sir!

What floor pan is that and where did you get it? I just put mine together from a whole bunch of new little pieces but I have another Blazer to restore and want to use your strategy on the floor pan.

It's the full C10 floor pain with all the main bracing/support made by Keyparts TriPlus. I got it from Classic Parts Industry, Inc (cpitruck.com). It doesn't have the Blazer boxes, extra seat brace for the front seat bucket mounts, rear corner plates that bolt through the B-pillar,and the rear seatbelt and seat mounting plates. Those I removed a reused from the original floor.

I love the seat idea! I'll have to remember that one if I decide to upgrade again. Finding a nice one that folds out of the way like that is great!
