the reson I used a 6 foot pry bar to smack a nice dent in my fender

yea some of them had the bolted tunnels some didnt, all i know is it makes doing that kinda work a HELL of a lot easier, so easy to get to the top bell housing bolts with that cover off on my 84 i had, but my 86 pickup doesnt have the removable tunnel, not that i plan on putting a tranny in it anytime soon ..lol..but would be nice..i say cut the thing off and put bolts on it then use something to seal it up..would probobly make future tranny removale/installation much easier..

I got it in today, so tired and drained I didn't even bolt the crossmember up, just sitting on a jack.

I think I got mine at Costco. It was pretty cheap and after looking at the Craftsman ones at Sears, I'm convinced mine is made by the same company (Arcan). I've used that motorcycle jack now almost as much as my regular jack. I have a cherry picker too, but I never tried using it for the tranny/TC. I have used it to lift the rear body off of the frame and other creative stuff too. I think the next purchase is going to be a hydraulic press. I'm sick of pounding on wheel studs for hours with a BFH and a monster grade 8 bolt to get them pressed in. Anybody have any experience with presses? I'm wondering if I could bend plate steel sheets with them to fab up some skidplates.
