The spark is all gone

I have an 82 K5 and it suddenly died while backing out of the drive way. I changed the cap and rotor, pickup coil, voltage regulator, and ignition coil...and i still don't have spark. I'm stumped
 
Marriage counseling?

Did you check for power to the coil?
 
ensure you did not forget the ground strap between the cap and coil...like I did many moons back.

Did you change the ignition module under the cap or is that what you're calling the pick-up coil? I always like to replace the ignition module AND pick-up coil at the same time.
 
I got it! The coil i replaced was bad...put a new one on....IT was bad. So replaced it again and boom fired right up.
 
Man, it's hard enough to troubleshoot stuff when new parts out of the box are bad. Doesn't make one feel good about carrying spares.

There is a coil test that can be performed with a multimeter as I recall.

If you can't test a component on the rig before taking it as a spare, checking via alternative methods is certainly not a bad idea, if possible.

For the trail, I'd think a complete distributor (known good) to be infinitely more valuable than the individual components, especially based on cost.
 
I feel ya but in total i spent about 70-80 bucks on parts a new distributor was 140 i saved buying individual parts.

New finding though.....my truck won't start with my + to + and - to - i have to cross them + to - and vise versa
With them crossed it fires up
