I am looking for pictures of 6.2 litre diesels that have been tricked-out, chromed, detailed, just totally pristine or modified. Do they exist? Has anyone ever seen one? I would imagine some of the turboed 6.2s are cleaned up nice. Please post links or pics if you know of any.

I dont think I've seen many (if any) chromed, cleaned up, pretty, painted, diesels in general. They all tend to be a little grimy, greasy, and dirty.

Heck, the mercedes diesels, one of the manuals tells you to NEVER clean your engine, as it promotes leaks. :haha:

even the GM 6.2 manual says that you really should not clean your engine.

I've seen a couple of pic's of prettied up 6.2's...but I'll be damned if I can find them now. I spent about an hour last night trying to find something with no luck though.

Rene's 6.2 the cleanest I've seen!..

I think Rene's 6.2 was pretty spiffy--when he posted pictures of it just before he swapped it in his K5 I remember it being a nice shade of light blue..

Mine is not really greasy, but its painted black with rattle cans to prevent it from rusting any faster...I cant say I've ever seen one dolled up!--do they even MAKE chrome valve covers and headers for the 6.2??0--(I've seen plain painted headers, but no chrome ones!)..I thinks its a moot point to dress up a diesel externally--the beauty lies within!!..

Mines in tip top condition then! :haha:

tRustyK5, I've been looking all over too! :D I am most curious about any kind of modifications you can make to them. But I would also like to see what one looks like clean. haha

That's what I am wondering too.

:haha: True! But just think.. if we had them all polished there would be no contest whatsoever! :P

I think people should start takin pride in their diesels. :D

One thing that I am curious about is how simplified everything can be. Tidy. When I look at my engine it is difficult to understand what I am looking at. Just looks a like a big mess. :o

There was a nice one on eBay not too long ago. I think it had an ATS turbo and It was all purdy'd up. I'll see if I still have the pics.

Nothing special, but somewhat clean...

With air cleaner on.

I did the intake, IP, injectors and new valve cover gaskets about 2 years ago and it's stayed reasonably clean.

Port matched the intake, had it glass beaded, then clear coated. Injector lines I cleaned and painted black, as well as the CDR tubes. Valve covers and intake valley I painted. It was already pretty clean when I got it, and pretty dry. As far as I know it had no leaks when I bought it...although the rear main seal needs doing now.

It should look a little more visually appealing when the H1 headers are on... :smile1:

Rene

H1 headers? Will that improve performance?

Oh.. btw.. my 6.2 has some little thing directly above the intake with a vaccum line coming off it... do you know what that is for?

The freer the exhaust flows on a diesel the more power it can make. They're very responsive to exhaust improvements...

As for how much of a difference...I won't even guess but I think I'll notice it. Mostly I want it to sound better.

At the rear of your intake? Probably the vacuum pump. You'll notice my 6.2 doesn't have a vac pump at all, and also doesn't have any extra crap on top of the injection pump. Standard tranny and no AC in my truck...
