The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

i think the sunday/monday morning pics ought to be interesting...

j/k, that's a nice truck. looks cool. maybe put in an E-Locker.

Its already got one of the new style AAM axles with its version of the Gov-Loc type thing . Maybe stronger than a Eaton Gov-Loc . This is the kid who will find out for us :wink1:

How's the new rig doing? You don't need to reprogram anything for 285's, but if you want to, I would suggest one of those handheld programmers. They allow you to tweak all sorts of stuff, and can give you a few horses on 87 octane. They also let you control your transmission (4L85e, right?) Isn't the rear end under that thing a 14FF? To the best of my knowledge, the 11.5" AAM axles only come with the 8.1 and D-Max. For a non-snow belt daily driver (PHX) a 2WD is the way to go, IMO. Less stuff to worry about and better mileage. With a posi or locker and some good tires you'll be able to go further offroad than you probably want to be in a new truck. Once it's paid off, it's not any harder to SFA than a 4x4. If getting stuck is a concern, you could always get a winch.

few notes on the new truck,

updates: got flowmaster exaust done today, 50 series

the trucks for 07 have a redesigned exaust, every thing from the manifolds to the pipe size to the routing and mufffler. my exaust shop was surprised. the pipe size was 3.5 all the way, also the manifolds look damn close to what a header looks like, and look effiecent at least thats what the pro says.

the interior, doors need to be slammed, but the weatherstip has no wear so its understandable. duel climate control feature is great, my girl frind loves it, the truck has every gauge even a tack. it has the tow feature on the shifter, drops the rpms a few thousand and shifts quicker, fun too. interior noise, a bit loud, but when I go through the stereo it will get noise damping all around, aslo noted I has a rubber floor and no carpet, but I really like that. also the cup holders on the ground is great, my 99 had them on the dash, drove me nuts since it would gum up the dash as soda spilled around. i drive all day so I like it down low.seats...not to comfy, having a hard time getting them to where I like them, my burb had leather, guess I was spoiled. maybe the seats just need some break in. the dash also has a o-sh!t handle, my girlfriend likes that too.

the rear end is the new 14 bolt, disk brakes and gov lock. trans is the 4l80e, also as of 07, no more 8.1 motor anymore, believe me I wanted it:( the ride is what I would exspect, but I have talked to alot of people that say swapping to the bilstin shocks make a night and day differenece, I plan to do that asap.

truck has 4.10 gears, cant smoke em thanks to rear brakes, I played for a while and the best I can do is chirping them, i have zero plans to try it with a nutraul drop though:crazy: a programmer that can be removed, such as hypertech is what I am looking into, intake is going to be k?&n but air raid in scottsdale is a customer of mine so I will wait to see what they can do:D

as for gas mileage

first tank, filled up at 341 miles, put in 32.5 gallons, tank is 33 gallons

second tank, 321 miles, 31.8 gallons

thats around 10 mpg :/

not looking good there, but note that the tires were 2.45's and I have 2.85s on it, so use that to figure the differance, so I am getting better then what I think.

thats all for now, love my truck already got it dead sideways twice:)

My dad's 01 2500 with the 6.0 gets around 16-17 after the hyper tech. He has it on the most power for 87 gas.

Not sure, but not being able to peel out is probably torque management at its best. Isnt' that truck limited electronically at low speeds?

nah, couldnt be any connections there.

at first I ordered the magniflow, then turned out they changed the exaust for 07 so it wouldnt work,

i dont get payed by the hour and time is money so I changed my mind on the spot and went 50 series that he had in stock, i may try the mag later, but right now I am looking into long tube headers, high flow cats and true duals$$$$$$

love it, i wanted loud, but I am on my phone and drive all day so I went 50 series, BIG difference in tone and sound, truck feels same or better.

thanks matt, i am curious of his gvw

guys im going out of town now, lets see what monday brings us :P

well seems change is in the air..

im picking up some 315 bfg all terrains for it thursday, the 285 "33's" fit, I have a feeling 35's is pushing it with no lift:haha:

might have to make them fit.... I also am shopping for some 4.56 gears for it, the 4.10s are ok, but after going with even more tire..

I'll find out for ya.

Also good luck with the 315's. The problem is the front fender well comes down too far and doesn't get much wider than 36" and that doesn't leave enough for the tire to turn. Try it. I have had to trim a decent amount to shove 315's on 4" lifts. Yours is an HD and they sit higher so it should help.

I have crawled around it a bit and looked, also compared a 2001 non hd to mine, noted differenced is the gross vw is a thouand pounds greater on mine, and the rear frame does not neck down to 5 inches, mine is 8 inches also the uper and lower a-arms have more beef and the newer hd ones have the hight differance that is apparant in the lower one.

my thoughts now are to put the 38 inch michilins on this thing:D they last forever, are affordable and look sick

Ill do a spindle lift up front plus keys, in the rear I am thinking about drop down reverse shackle bracket, this way I also get a better ride. flex is not a concern since its a work/street truck. also noted is the black tephelon rims...

in my mind this look sick, I also have a extra tail gate so I want to get custome and make it open like a door so entry is easier, alot like the honda ridgeline.

o.. and the neet electric steps, 1500 installed, but man they are sweet, the tuck up right to the rocker and look like factory molding.:D

ok, back to thinking, this aint going to be cheap:crazy:

the door can be adjusted so it will close better. I work at a gm dealership and we have to do it often to the new trucks.

the tank is 34 gallons.

Lifetime average fuel economy is going to be around 12 mpg. thats if you keep everything stock. Hypertec would help but 4.56 gears and bigger tires is going to kill economy. It will look awesome though.

I currently have 4.10s, so by going up two tire sizes, at least if I stayed with 35's it would put me closser to stock with 4.56, if I go 38's I would look at the 4.88s fuel ecconomy sucks, but I would rather smile while driving even if it means 7 mpg:crazy:

just food for thought, I am really pondering putting it on the military tires... but then again got the 86 to keep up on..the buggy...and currently shopping for a 60's car for a project when the buggy is done.

i cant seem to find the spindles for 7 inches, I was almost sure someone made them, most guys are putting on a 6 inch just to run 35's..I plan on no aftermarket lift and 35's:crazy:
