The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Cool!

I haven't seen anyone using the "Buttman angle" in YEARS on these forums!!! :)

Nice to see it make a comeback for the old timers! :waytogo:

:usaflag:

My helper on that project is knee deep in a cummins swap in his crew cab, ill let him sweat the summer out while its 110 here and finish his project first. :haha::popcorn:

Figure by the time its cool should be a nice time to drag the old cab over and start working on it.

Cool. :D Be careful till then! We don't need another "gone but not forgotten" thread. :wink1: i love watching the crazy stuff you do!

C'mon Shawn.....don't you remember stuff from 10 years ago on CK5???

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1368&highlight=buttman

The photos are long gone, but he became famous for the "down low, aiming upwards" angle of photography. Something about trying to make a 4" lift on 35's seem more impressive...

He has long since been banned for other shenanigans, but the Buttman angle reference lives on (in MY mind at least). :D

:usaflag:

The low angle does make for great shots I think...makes everything look "majestic"

Pic whoring HI-Jack: Please excuse Shawn...

Dude I was looking through some old posts and as everyone says your nuts...but I love it. Also 20 or so pages back when the tranny #7 blew you said self destructed actually then the winch self destructed you do realize that they actually shawn destructed right. LOL! I am subscribed! :waytogo:

oh bother:doah:

The mud bog is saturday and the weather was killer today... so my mind started thinking I should fix some crap and create new problems.

Flipped the rear shackle... have to call up kurt now for a zero rate to get it back where it was now. Also need to make lower shock mounts, bonus is I was hitting the factory ones on everything anyways.

The replaced the coolant overflow tank.. 70.00 later i was in business but discovered my fender is way to trashed to mount it now. Hmm, ill get back to that one.

Adjusted the coil overs. What a pain! Now I need to lower my limiting straps or get new longer ones. Also need to make a new panhard as mine it trashed. Who said 188 wall DOM and 7/8 hiem was enough ??

Truck still feels stable, I still need to toss my 1.5" spacers back up front as I hit the radius arm with out it.

This weekend I will get a new hose for the king coil over, then pull apart the front axle and pull the locker out in favor of some welded spiders. Screw this powertrax crap!

Also noticed my 1 1/4" hiems on the radius arms are completely trashed, kind of shocked they only lasted 10k miles.. hmm

Maybe its me but it looks like your rear shocks aren't even connected:dunno::dunno:

Had a blast!

The day started off like hell, made a plan to go have a work on our crap day at my friends house. Well I get the truck out, get the trailer hooked up and had a flat on the trailer. So I head over to my local friendly semi/farm tire shop and the guy has a mudder he can toss on for the day.. sweet.

Well that turned to crap, he over tightened the axle lug nut vw style stud things and ripped the thread out of the hub assembly.:doah: He tried to fix it and I made it out of the parking lot until my tire passed me:doah: Then tire shop number two swaps the tire on a different trailer rim that is steel not alum, so it allowed more threads to go in.

Well.. loaded up the truck, all seemed well and only made it out of my driveway before.. once again.. the tire decided to pass me and go 3 houses down.:doah::doah:

At this point I am flustered to say the least, I unload everything, load the parts and tools in the 07 and said fuk it and decided to drive it.. on non balanced, now flat spotted 44 inch bias tires... did I mention the 205 is stuck in 4low:doah:

So.. yay. Cruise over to my buddy mikes, get a hub assembly off an axle he had, tossed it in the truck and went to aarons to work on the truck.

Pulled the axle apart.. found my powertrax locker had taken a complete turd. I had some spiders I carry with me so I pulled the carrier, tossed them in, and welded those suckers up!

I get it all back together, at this point I am running out of time and still have to fix the trailer 15 miles away:doah: I grab a helper and the brake parts and we go back, mean while aaron welds up some new shock tabs in the rear and new limit strap tabs and bump stop mounts for me:thumb:

So back at my house.. freaking hub had one left/right odd stud/ lug nut things for it, long story short it would not let a wheel go on after we had torn the whole things to pieces.

I give up, drive the 06 to the 07 and commit to driving the 07 another 8 miles to the mud bog in 4low..

At the mud bog, lots of friends and my mom showed up.. when I got there not one truck had made it though! Finally mud at our mud bog! There were a few trucks on 44 inch boggers and ground hogs but they lacked any motor or real gears.

I lined up... made my hole shot and she went though, big crazy hole in the center but.. made it with out any drama. For the next hour it was truck after truck after truck getting stuck. I was the only person to make it though and the owner of the place said I could just keep going:thumb:

Then he ups the fun and tells me he will give me 100.00 if I make both lanes 3 times each.. well easily did that and went through backwards on trip number 7! Not easy by any means!

Finally I made a highway on the left and even then only a couple people made it out of 50-60 trucks. People just kept getting stuck.

I got the ok to get a crazy run at it a couple times and I tried jumping the huge hole, fun.

Finally the tracker and guys running the ropes were getting dead tired form stuck after stuck truck, he let me try to pull out the truck on 44 inch boggers... but.. turns out I broke a front shaft.. well I called it a night as I sure and not tossing in my spare with a huge heavy mud mess around it.

But... as I go to leave in my truck that was still alive i could not help my self and went back for the dirt bike jumps Went for it and nailed it all wrong, landed hard and heard the rpms go crazy :(

I get out, pace myself thinking I broke another trans output or bell housing and I see my rear shaft gone.. hmm.. cool I have my spare! But.. I notice my 1410 yoke is broken and wont be accepting an invitation from a driveline ever again

Hmm.. so I take the slip piece off the t-case.. and jump the truck in 1 wheel front wheel drive, well tried anyways, I could only get the front off the ground as traction was a issue.. thus little speed.

So.. trailer.. leave the truck.. or drive it.. fuggggit! Drove the thing back to aarons.. I can say this does one hell of a front one wheel burn out lol!

Got back and realized I broke the hell out of the king and the upper mount and ripped the shock hoop tube up pretty bad.. Looks like I will be mounting up the sway-a-ways from the buggy instead and building new mounts tomorrow.

Mtv has some show filming out there on tuesday... would be fun if I can fix it by then:pimp: Mudddddddddd bog... maybe take it off some sweet jumps!

Ill get pics and vid later, its almost 4am and I am dead tired and tomorrow will be a busy day now. Ill toss up a couple that i have for now, one is my mom, she had a blast.

On the to-do list.. upgrade, plate and reinforce tabs and structure around them, swap to my other coil overs, new pan hard, new hub and stub shaft, new 1410 yoke/and or upgrade and repair the drive shaft or swap in my spare..

damaged passenger side.. took just a few hammer hits to get the coil over free:crazy:

Looks like I broke the fuel tank skid plate and tore up the side and mount pretty good, I do have another one of these and a spare tank off the parts truck though. The tank may be broken on the side too but i have to pull the cover off to see..driveshaft did some work lol.

hey dont be sad everything broke, just thing of it as you being really consistent!

Helps keep the miles down:smirk:

I don't get upset anymore. I was good and done and the night was over but decided to press my luck. I think I am just trained now to go till it breaks lol.

As long as its still fun and I feel like paying for the parts I continue to support the economy in my own little way.

There is always knitting or circle track racing to look into:thumb:

Circle track racing may be cheaper at this point.

We should start a pool to bet on what the next weak link in your truck will be. :D
