The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

So me and my lemon want to be TTC bound this year.

Goal... make it in ttc.. put on a good show have fun with 3 of my good friends and try to make a showing in all 5 events.

I have to be entered by the 5th of december, so this week the trans comes out, new short side chromo shaft is already on the way. Figure if I can get a quality pic of the truck 5-10 feet in the air that would make a nice entry pic.

obvious changes... when I get back from Sema, aaron and I will get the cage started.

Problem areas

- Factory wiring!..maybe ditch it all, I love how basic the wiring in the buggy was, just 4 relays! I really need to move my computer and the factory fuse and relay stuff is just not working out. Back to basics!

transmissions ... maybe swap to a th-400? Looking to get away from electronics and plugs. This also goes with my simple wiring option as well as being able to bring a spare affordably.

radiator... mine is not happy, a rear mount would pay dividends towards it living a long happy life with out breaking to pieces.

suspension... kings are going back on the front, new shocks and bump stops for the rear but I am set on keeping leaf springs back there, nice and simple. I could see a track bar being needed for sure if I go up in power and tire size. Not sure how much taller, but its obvious the truck has to go up, im hitting everywhere with 44's

Axles...

Here is where I am stuck.

I know the answer is rockwells, and Im willing to do them but not until I hear that I am in. So I am going to start looking for a deal on both a cheap set and a built set, hard to find in az though:doah: I cant see showing up with 1 tons.

Power... I've had a hell of a time keeping transmission in this thing, but with bigger axles...:D I am sold on nitrous, a cam and some head work is a no brainer but I will need some more cubes or a supercharger. Bummer is that 5-6k price tag.. sounds fun though:D

Input?

If I can get in I am going to play for keeps. Figure starting now gives me plenty of time but not sure if I can do both the buggy and this at the same time. $$$

Dude on the power part of things, the LQ4 is a great engine and I really think just heads and a cam would be the ticket for you, and maybe a 75 shot for the tank trap lol. But thats only my opinion and with you I would go mogs or rockwells atleast.

If you break parts this much just messin around in the desert, then I can't wait to see what you can destroy in TCC!!!

Incredible truck btw, I hope to someday be able to fabricate and build like you can

Bought a utility bed today for the 06.. I am hesitant to start a build thread for it as it might doom it all together. :haha:

I was thinking about getting a new truck and I just cant see treating a 50k truck the way I treat things. So im going to stick with my trusty 6.0 engines and convert my short bed to a long bed and also convert from a 26 gallon tank to a 34 gallon tank. I saved the tank out of the parts truck I bought a while back, bummer I didn't save the whole frame :(

Plan is to buy a rear frame clip or a whole frame. If I can land a whole frame ext cab long bed frame for a fair price I might go that route and start the solid axle swap adventure a little early, maybe a low mile 6.0 too while im at it being my 06 is right at 200k, a reman trans from gm might be in my future too... 200k on a stock 4l80e is making me nervous... and of coarse while at that I will need change to a pass drop 241 and to 32 spline.. let my adventure begin.

Tonight decided to start on the 07 too, dad came over for some hanging out and a ride to the hospital should I need one lol. I need my trailer to fetch the new utility body, so the truck and 8 inches of mud had to come off.

Tried to roll the truck off... no go... tried to ratchet strap it off... got sketchy... then decided to put his d-max in the back yard and hook a chain and start yanking... HMMM

Worked great until we got to the safety chain I had hooked to the front of the truck to the front of the trailer to keep the unmaned truck from totaling his... he didn't know about the chain and kept yanking :haha:

Truck got hung up on the trailer bad, so I had to put my truck in 4low, back up to release the chain tension, them drive off to get the trailer out. Nice holes in my back yard from his front tires digging too.

just another day!

What goes up must come down:doah:

I got a little carried away with my wanna be prerunner saturday night, seems who ever installed this tool box seriously went cheap on the labor or hardware.

I got the truck up to 78 while having some fun with some friends and my tom tom... that went fine until I out ran my head light and hit a huge set of whoops.

The truck went air born with ground as the destination and the tool box hardware literally ripped through the floor and sent the tool box air born. It came down on the cab cab and then the bed:eek1: This pic is actually after banging out the dent and creese near the 3rd brake light and swapping in a new 3rd light from my old 07 cab.

Glass guy is out there installing a new window right now, he said people drop lumber on the cab all the time... so I told him the story and he insisted I take some business cards for the future:haha: 75.00 installed for a used piece of factory glass.:pimp:

wait, that was in the nice truck? :eek1:

Didnt even notice that till i saw the extended cab doors, dude im sorry to see that one damaged. The single cab seems built to be destroyed lol.

I'm normally right there with ya' man and I enjoy this thread as much as the next guy but really? You have a truck and buggy that you can abuse yet you tear up your nice dd/tow rig instead? That's just dumb to me.
Anywhoo it's your stuff so just keep on taking pics for the rest of us. :)

Ya:doah:

I kind of shook my head on that one. Happy the window was cheap too because I got hosed on the frame:doah:

wow haha this is getting rediculous.. yeah took me to this point to say that lol

Ok Im happy again looks like the frame price was not bad, also my buddy david "on here way back on the first page" was the one to strip the truck apart that the frame came from.

Super excited, just trying to decide if I want to do the sas now or bolt on the ifs.

Its already going to be apart why not go ahead an SAS it? Ain't no since in putting that junk IFS back in when you will end up taking it back out later.

I'm lost...... :dunno:

Shawn you need to put all these trucks / projects into Ancestry.com so that we can have a clearer sense of where this whole evolution began and to track all the changes/swaps along the way!!! :D
