The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Damn! Both trucks look so secksy right now! I fully support you beating the ever loving piss out of the 06! That would be a blast! Little more of a challenge with the "small" tires too! Better probably do 6500rpm neutral drops instead of 5000rpm.

Did you just take the utility box off just for the mud bog?? lol:haha:

No lol, I have not been driving the duramax for work yet because I hate working out of a truck bed now. I have been a bit busy otherwise the utility bed would have been on the day I got it.

After seeing the truck with the bed on it I have really mixed feelings,

Part of me want to keep the 06 now and just leave the duramax alone. Once the new axle and gears are in it I am not sure I will want to get rid of it and I have been liking driving the duramax just the way it is.

Funny thing to, the couple dents that did not bug me before are bugging the hell out of me now.

But I have been known to change my mind:D

Take a few more pics with the wheels and tires.....lol.......its looking good.

Sad to say but this truck has already been beat on pretty bad before, been over 80 in the wash, bounced around and in general had fun with it already, hell I took this truck and trailer with my 07 on the back into the mud bog:D

Nothing new, I just have more panels to look out for.

So how exactly did you swap out the beds? A bunch of buddies and some brewskis' or a lift of some sort? Just curious. Both rigs look good. Duramax could use some bigger rubber, but you probably want to keep the fuel mileage better, so I understand why you'd want to stay small.

I have access to a couple different lifts and that was the plan but I got impaitient ..

Just used my very modified cherry picker, lifted the back and then set my tall harbor frieght jack stands under the back, then used my tow chain to the front of it and it picked it up how a person would if they lifted a old tv from the front.

I took a pic of my buddy standing in the back while I swapped trucks out from under and will load a pic.. Pretty entertaining.

I flipin hate finding a deal sometimes.
:angry1:

Now all long I will be thinking about putting a duramax motor and trans in my 07

So.. talked myself into the last one, anyone want to talk me out of this? The 6.0 is one of the last parts of my truck that is original, might be sad to see it go.

Rolled 05 duramax 2wd. 117k miles

3800.00 so far that is the best deal I have seen.. probably make most of my money back after scrap and selling off parts. hmm

Anyone think a divorced 205 would put up with the added torque?

I sure hope it would hold, do it! :pimp:

I think that 05 is a good year too as far as problems

would say you could sell the 6.0 out of your truck on here for someone to swap into a blazer (i'm looking and i'm sure others are too) but you couldnt sell it on here because no one would want an engine that was in a truck you beat to death. lol

put it in the 06

put it in the 06

I thought about that buttt

The 05 pictured is 4x4, so unless I want to so a divorced case or convert the allison and get a t-case that is a no go. People want 1000-2000 just for the t-case. Speaking of that I need to do the pump rub mod on my my new truck before it goes caboooom.

The other idea being I am enjoying the 07 duramax as it is would be to buy the wrecked 05 pictured above and rob the 06 for its cab, clip and bed then part out the rest and have a 2wd duramax work truck and use the sas parts to make the 07 duramax bad ass:D

Or.. put the 05 pictured trucks duramax motor and trans into my bug 07 and start adding goodies and start breaking some real transmission parts!

Lots of ways to slap this chicken. I have almost convinced myself cab and frame swaps on new trucks is a normal thing.. almost:doah:

edit.. maxpf I see you :)

call me.

205's seem to hold up in wheeling rigs OK, but diesel sled pullers routinely break outputs, gears, and cases. All those guys have pretty much given up on the 205s and run 241's, 261/263's, or 271/273's.

Yep, grab a look at a 271/273 I don't care what anyone says about chain cases. Those mfer's are monsters. I'm more than happy to use one in my superduty to feed the super60 and D110. No strength issues there.

The main advantage with the Ford 271/273 are the output shafts - they are effin HUGE! Here's a pic of a Ford 271 output shaft next to a 32 spline 205 output:

The chain is 1.5" wide, which is the same as the 261/3xhd and the 241DHD cases. The case itself is pretty thick and has plenty of ribbing, which explains why it weighs 120lbs:

Even though the 27x cases are strong in absolute terms I still think the 205 is more durable for rigs that wheel a lot. Even the 1.5" chain will stretch from frequent wheeling, and aluminum cases are known to break from high driveshaft angles combined with high torque. The only real weakness in a Chevy or Dodge 205 is the output shaft. If someone made a 29 or 34 spline output, that would no longer be a concern. The Ford 205's have weak cases due to the location of their PTO opening. I've seen quite a few pics of broken Ford 205 cases. The gears are intact, but the case splits right at the narrow area between the PTO opening and front and rear cover bolt holes. I've never seen or heard of a broken Chevy or Dodge (pass drop) case. I think if a guy wants to run a 205 behind a Duramax you would be better off running a pass. drop 60 so you could use a Chevy case. If you are gonna run driver drop, stick with a Ford 271. Don't use a Dodge case; they are 29 spline slip yoke, whereas the Ford cases are 34 spline fixed yoke :D
