The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

im pretty sure that all the 08 and up stuff is 29 spline. so far ive only seen 2 at my work so i dont think they blow up that often.

Have not been much for updates lately I guess.

Finally installed the 4.88's in the 06 ext cab, went ahead and said screw it and welded the front too:D Installed the new hd 44 high pinion with superior shafts and yukon super joints too along with changing the leafs to raise the front a inch or two and level it out and a new radiator:doah:

And decided I am taking the 06 to blazer bash:woot: No real hard trails as I will be in a land yacht but I am looking forward to a great time:thumb:

Plans before I take it..

-rock sliders
-hydro assist
-new rear hitch
-front recovery point for shackle/d ring mounts
-big tool box
-electric fans "got hot and blew my radiator last weekend at the mud bogs"
-spare front and rear shafts made and mounted in the box
-maybe a better skid for the 241 if needed
-20 lb abc fire extinguisher and a 10lb halon

Any other thoughts? I am driving it up there.. I figure worst case ill hitch a ride home and come get it the next week if I cant drive it back but I do not want to trailer it.

I have spare everything so as long as its practical ill secure it in the tool box and bring it:)

oh.. and back to the other projects...

Decided to build up the mini trucks a little bigger and stronger:pimp: Bought a 4 runner for its axles and steering, has a bunch of all pro parts.. the sami axles were looking like a joke so bigger I go!

and.. I picked up my 14 bolt front:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

had Andrew over at letzrolloffroad have his crew add three inches to the passenger side and set the Solid axle ind inner C's on. Ill weld them later though as I need to set my caster still. Sadly ballistic is on the fritz so no shave kit and cover yet:doah:

So.. hopefully I can put some time aside and make this buggy a roller soon:D

14 bolt part list and plan so far

newer finned casting 14 from a 2006 chevy
Crane ind's revolution 14 bolt inner seal kit
Solid axle industries inner dana 60 C's machined for the 14's tube OD
solid keyed knuckes
artec keyed arms, truss, double sheer steer kit and truss/ ram mount
superior axle blanks resplined and cut for the inners and 35 spline outers
poly performance flanges
PSC full hydro double ended ram kit
ballistic cover and shave kit
shaved new 4.56 gears
1410 yoke, may change this over to Jesses flange though or have one made

That should be a pretty shawn resistant front axle:saweet:

As for the 07... its not even on my mind, going to spend some time looking for another wrecked duramax and then gut it and swap it all over, i may build one last 4l80 if it takes to long.. but I am convinced I want more power now:popcorn:

ok thats all for now:1zhelp:

You ever been to Moab before?
Ever wheeled on slick rock?

if not I would say bring axle shafts, I can see you breaking some

Get together with some of the AZ guys and caravan up, its tons of fun.
You will be fine running Hells Revenge and could probably do fine on Trifecta cuz there are lots of bypasses on the really hard stuff.

No, I have not.

These are new chromo shafts with superjoints, I have some spares I could yank from the old 44 I took out though but they are stockers. I cant say I will spend the money on spare chromo shafts though.

I am going more for scenic and to get a feel for the place, I wish I could take the buggy or the big truck but my time line does not work for the prep they would both need.

Just looking for a sunday drive with the AC blowing in my face:D

You should be fine as long as you keep it sane, which might be hard :D driving it is a good thing might help you break less

Brian (SLOK5) wheeled Hells Revenge in an almost bone-stock K5....

(he may have even done it with the A/C on) :D

Don't get too caught up with "upgrade fever" before the trip. Just make sure your truck is in good working condition and bring a few sensible spares. Driving in Moab is unlike anything else you've ever experienced. If you have the chance to go you should take it.....

I've been 3 times and can't wait to get back there.

:usaflag:

ahhhh fiddled with the front axle for the buggy tonight

the Artec truss and ram mount was not as easy as I hoped but I was able to trim it to fit the 14 bolt tubes and center chunk. The larger OD on the axle tubes caused most the headache.

Non the less, its mocked up.

Tossed the outers on to get a better idea:pimp:

Next ill get some lower links, and give everything a good tack or two and make it a roller.

So.. next up after that is steering, Psc or Howe.. not sure yet

then keyed Solid knuckles and Artec 6 bolt keyed arms with their 7/8 arm kit

Then rcv shafts or brank motorsports 300m's, ctm shafts, or superior? This will be the hardest choice I am sure.

Then finally new gears, shave and cover, pinion guard, flanges.

damn this hobby! Cant wait to try to break it though!

Some tough parts! Is it just me or are the front wheels tilted in at the top?

So i remember saying I didnt want a duramax do to the fact that is cost more to repair and harder to work on..
:doah:

Mine goes off to the dealer in the am for a fuel issue, not sure if I am looking at injectors, a CP3, or a regulator. After several hours of reading I have decided all three jobs look like a royal pita! Had to drive home in limp mode, wont go over 2k rms under load and have a p0090 code.

I feel helpless, I know shops that would be cheaper but at least at the dealer i know they have seen the issue "hope" and the tech should diagnose it right the first time.

Wonder how bad this will hit my buggy/toys account :1zhelp:
