The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

Still might be what your problem is. They were saying about $400 dollars for it.

So i remember saying I didnt want a duramax do to the fact that is cost more to repair and harder to work on..
:doah:

Mine goes off to the dealer in the am for a fuel issue, not sure if I am looking at injectors, a CP3, or a regulator. After several hours of reading I have decided all three jobs look like a royal pita! Had to drive home in limp mode, wont go over 2k rms under load and have a p0090 code.

I feel helpless, I know shops that would be cheaper but at least at the dealer i know they have seen the issue "hope" and the tech should diagnose it right the first time.

Wonder how bad this will hit my buggy/toys account :1zhelp:

You need to spend time on diesel place. diesels are not hard to work on. In fact I find mine easier to deal with than most of the older 80's ish trucks that I learned on. The only sucky thing about diesels is if it's motor work you will get diesel oil black as soon as you look at the motor.

I did head gaskets in my 05' in my garage with VERY basic hand tools. Really not that hard.

220k,

I like an auto, I hate the dodge body and interior.
I dont really care one way or the other on the body of the Dodge, but I HATE the interior.
Real trucks have foot operated clutches, and there is a reason ALL modern over the road trucks have inline 6s........:D

I didn't look that code up, but how long since you changed the fuel filter? I have seen that happen way too many times with my brother, dad, and cousin. Fuel filter clogs up early and the darn things will barely go down the road. Don't know if that trips a code though...

Don`t think a filter will throw any codes, but definatly change the fuel filter.
Don`t cheap out get a good on from gm or I get mine from Baldwin.
Also two stroke oil mixed it with the fuel some times will free up a sticky fuel pump.
What year is your truck? Maybe your injector harness is giving you trouble.
Also if your truck is a 05 the wireing that goes over the alternater can rub threw and short out the injector harness.

All the above are very common and easy to fix.
We have had all these things happen to my father in laws 05 duramax.

It turns out its a while in the fuel pressure regulator solenoid circuit. I was playing with it looking for loose wires before I dropped it to the dealer and near the main engine harness connector once wiggled it ran right.

Then put it in gear to see if it was better and noticed the motor torque over like crazy! The drivers side motor mount failed and it caused the harness to get pulled on like crazy and resulted in a broken wire.

I still need to fix it but need to get a power prob or Ohm tester and find where the issue is exactly.

so thank goodness not a fuel issue, I did swap a new fuel filter on btw prior to finding this problem.

Sweet on the 07, you got any pics, did you get her fixed?

Here is the 07 its a classic, added the utility bed and I love it just the way it is:thumb:

Thus far I have no desire to lift it or really anything, I deleted the muffler and added an Air Raid air intake, hauls ass enough in the desert for my taste too with all the weight out back:pimp:

I want to eventually find a cash deal on a new body style and make it my work truck or go out truck and ditch the 06 ext cab and do a sas and lift on the 07 classic pictured, maybe convert it to a short bed too. for now... game on for the 06:D

And.. not fixed yet, I just got a power probe tonight so Ill hopefully have time tomorrow or this weekend to mess with it.

the big 07 is just in the back yard sad until I figure out my next plan for it.

Man you got allot of toys to work on.
:doah: Do not remind me.

You ever get tired of one of those white trucks ill take one off your hand free of charge, ill even come down and get it.

So been considering swapping over to the new BFG 16.5 baja tire for the ext cab hd.. well the just yesterday my friend and I were talking about how much I liked the old skinny xls I used to run.. and how good they would look with less lift and longer wheelbase:D

Turns out a local buddy had 8 of them.. and rather than run them on polished hd wheels "i do like that look though".. I scored a nice set of Huchinson bead locks for em from another buddy.

Ohhh yea:thumb:

Ill see if the 38's work out, if not Ill look into a new 37-38 for them.
:woot:
