The "under destruction builds" supersize75k5 's driveway of despair and repair

damn dude wish I was closer I live for last minute thrashes like this.

done too many to remember.

have not seen a video surface yet, but i did some how make it:waytogo:

Made a rookie move though and did not realize they had two flag guys, 1 to leave the pit and move out and another at the start line. It was a little chaotic and I was getting my helmet adjusted and not watch the guy before me go.

So, long story short I took off out of the hole and aired her out on the first jump like crazy, then made my turn, hit the double, then the triple "not sure if I cleared them all yet" then was flagged to stop. Went to the pits and found out what I did lol

Go back in line and did an actual timed lap.. 1st jump was good... then somewhere after the double the input shaft on the trans snapped. :(

But.. I had fun, the thrash was worth it just wish I had not over drove the truck. Ill pull the trans this week and figure out who is going to build it. Time for a billet input and output shaft cause this is getting old!

powerglide?

Im not that familiar with them but my main reason for staying with the 4l80e is the over drive. I like to use the t-case in 2:1, and with over drive it still gives me a pretty good top speed.

Ill go read more on the powerglide.

Powerglide might be a decent choice for a dedicated "tough truck" but if he wanted to use it for anything else maybe not... MVB might make it a tad bit more versitile but still a 1-2... Good suggestion though!:waytogo:

Powerglides have around a 1.76/1.82:1 first gear, and a 1:1 second gear, no OD, and no low 1st gear. Also, they are really only strong if you have a race built one that replaces every single part in the thing with an aftermarket piece, inluding the case, which can cost upwards of 6 - 7K for a bulletproof one. Great for drag racing, but probably not the best for your truck.

I think if you put a billet input shaft, along with the billet intermediate shaft, and billet forward hub in your truck, it would be plenty strong. Those pieces will probably cost you around $700 or so. It might be cool to put a transbrake in it too! I put one in the 4L80E in my car and I love it, awesome launches at the drag strip, but doing so made me think how fun it would be to have one in my truck for the sand races.

This guy specializes in 4L80Es...

I bet a stage 3 would solve your problems. If you call him and tell him whats happening and how you use the truck I bet he could make a reliable 4L80E for you.

A lenco would be awesome too! But big $$$. Also, you may be treading new ground putting a transfer case behind one. Combine a lenco with a triple stick doubler case though and you could get the prize for the most shifter sticks in your truck.
