Nice run Shawn :waytogo: always a show !!! and the blow up crash dummies were a nice touch :haha:

OK Shawn story time, gather round.

So earlier today, "well yesterday now" I took the time to swap in a replacement axle shaft on the front right.

After driving to koh and back with it going chinky chinky chinky like some distasteful racist comedian, I took some 20 minutes or so and swapped the replacment in...no time like two weeks after the previous present time.

Upon jacking this white turd up I noticed the wheel flop and that the ball joint was trashed. I get all done and order me up a pair of replacment bolt in cognito ball joints.

I pat myself on the back for caring but not so much that I would have found the motivation to swap the new fuel filter sitting on the floor "no need to get crazy"

It was taco Tuesday time and I said I was going to be there by seven, how great I thought that I could have the radio at a reasonable volume for the first time in a few thousand miles being I don't have to mask what previously sounded like a 5 year old learning to play the triangle and tambourine at the same time.

I show up and even brag about my new maintenance! Everyone had some doubts but seemed hopeful that I was turning a new tide.

Some time later, about 5.5 hours post axle replacement "PAR" I was down a side road being worked on and there is a temporary drainage pipe that was capable of tripping up even Tony Hawk, a formidable mound of earth covering it indeed.

I briefly slowed down but all too quickly went right back to my bad habbits and kept the speed going instead.

It was all to similar to a north Korean rocket as I came right back to where gravity held its clutch on my 7400lb truck and the ball joint failed quicker than a Taylor Swift relationship in a song.

I got out..laughing before I could even walk around..I've been here before. And I know that sudden drag sound of a tire like a mom at Walmart trying to walk past a candy machine with a kid.

I get a jack, try to pop the ball in place and back out slow and it fails again immediately.

Once more but now my Macgyver hat is on I decide to shove screw drivers and a t-handle 5/16 Allan wrench in the blown out empty space where cast metal had been. Then used the eyelet from a smaller ratchet strap to provide a grab point for a larger ratchet strap.

Drove home at a slow relatively safe pace of 5 to 10 and I believe I hit 15 miles per hour once. Every bump had me on edge and I did at least one 13 point turn.

Good thing I don't daily drive this truck or I'd feel some urgency to fix it before the new ones arrive. On that note I may see if sdhq has a bolt in replacment on the shelf and I'll end up with a spare.

Good news and bad.

Bad news is that the motor was sized up. I had sealed or so i thought but forgot that the spark plugs were loose. Thus water got on top of the pistons.

Tossed some marvel mystery oil in it and I'll see if it loosens up. Best case I'll take the head off tomorrow and dig in, worst case some machine work or I throw it in the trash.

Feels good to get back on it though.

Ecotech swap time. Sucks about your luck, I would assume it's been like this sense before last year's bash.

No, it has a sumo 8 valve motor. I got back from blazer bash and yanked that out, sold it and upgraded to this all aluminum 1.6.

The motor was out of a driving tracker so it got water in it because of me.

That is going to motivate that jeep perfectly! Not so much power to get yourself in too much trouble, but plenty to have fun!

I saw your movie on FB but was in the lunch room at the shop and didn't want to crank the sound up. Turned it up here at the house, sounds fantastic! :)
