i own an 88 k5, a 89 jeep wrangler, and a 04 ram 1500. all three of these beasts for some reason have the same starting problem when its cold out. i'll turn the key to start them and it will click as if the battery is dead but then i'll try to turn the key again and it will start cranking and the battery is fine. sometimes i will have to turn in back and forth multiple times and hear it click before they start cranking... any ideas???

You have dirty battery terminals and or loose cables. There doesn't have to be any growth on the terminals to be dirty, if the terminals are gray there are dirty and that is enough to cause too much resistance and give your problem.

Pull the cables off, either get a terminal cleaner or just use a wire brush and wire brush the battery terminals and the insides of the cable ends and i'll just about guarantee your problem is gone IF you have made 100% sure the battery is good by having done a load test.

I had a that same exact same problem on the blazer......It was the starter. I called it the chevy click'n'start for about 2 years, then it just died. Everything was connected and clean.
