Got laid off this morning, and got a list of things that needed done from my wife, leaving the bank I put her in gear and she started to make all kinds of noises and the whole truck shook, so I parked it and had a tow truck take her to my mechanic, and he tells me the motor swallowed a valve or two, and I cannot afford to replace it, so i'm offering her to a buddy of mine who has been trying to convince me to sell her to him since I got her.

I hate to have to turn to that, but she deserves a better touch of love than to sit in my garage to wait for a repair.

I'm going to stick around the best I can, you are a bunch of great guys that I have seen so far, and I hope nobody shuns me for my decision.

if being a ford guy crying over the loss of a GM doesn't tell you how much I love my jimmy, idk what does or will.
 
You gotta do what you gotta do.

What about finding a used engine and doing a quick swap? Can be done fairly cheap, easy and quick.
 
I've got a running 350 up here in NY you can have! Unfortunately... the distance part doesn't seem feasible.
 
even a 305 would work till you can find something better. People will give you running 305s most times.
 
I can't even afford any of those options, our house (rental) is getting to be too small so we are trying to save $$ to move asap, I appreciate all the offers, I really wish it didn't happen, she's a wonderful truck that needs little to be a fully restored truck, I'm going to see what happens with my friend here, if it turns out he can't do it, I'll finagle a way to keep her, any excuse to keep her is any excuse I'll take advantage of.

Tough luck buddy. You've had nothing but bad luck since you got that Blazer and joined this forum. Don't give up yet though. Things will get better for you.
 
Sorry to hear about that. Go visit the lounge, none of those guys have K5s anymore. :rolleyes:

hey now i do:D, buy im in the same boat im unemployed because i got laid off! so lack of a budget hurts:haha:

from the way it sounds you really LOVE this truck and i bet you regret selling it. if it has to be done then do it, maybe see if your friends will let you park it at his place.
how much are you gonna sell it for if you dont mind me askin? is it going to be worth selling it?

it's seen a lot of hell in the past few weeks, someone hit my drivers door and the window was down, yes, it's gone, someone tried to steal it i guess, the ignition system is just....messed up in the column, the exhaust manifold was the problem all along, got plugged up and was choking the motor out, finally split itself in half.

I'd LIKE to get what I paid for it, but beggars can't be choosers.
and yes, I do LOVE this truck, she still hasn't sold, if she does, I WILL regret it, it's a VERY fun truck, VERY fun......and she sounds....ORGASMIC.

She's beautiful, needs cosmetics, but worth every hour of labor.

I've already told my wife, If she doesn't sell I'm getting the door and it's window replaced, as well as the rear window replaced and store her until I can get the money and time to slowly restore her, she deserves it, sat for many years, and went right back to work not giving me a fight.

The weather turned ugly and the truck got flooded with water, spent all day vacuuming it out, I hope she doesn't sell, but I need the money, if that makes sense.

That sucks man. Very sorry to hear. Stay strong, you have a family. Do what you got to do. Plenty of chevy's to be had some other time. More then welcome to stick around. The lounge is fun, don't worry bout what others think. :D.

if I get this job my wife said she found open (applying for it Monday morning) I've decided to save up for a GMC Silverado 2500 with a 6.5 DTD under the hood, it'll be a better truck for what we need, and since the motor was designed with economy and not so much all out BTTW, i think it will fit well, and it helps my father in law makes his own Bio-Diesel :D, finding a 6.5 truck round here isn't hard, found a gorgeous one for $3500, gonna see what kind of agreement I can make with them, I'll GIVE them my Mopar 360 crate motor just to give me the time of day to get the truck with payments or something like that.

I will miss the jimmy, some kid is coming to look at it in the morning I guess, wife's coworker, not too wild bout seeing her go if she does, I love that truck, but we HAVE to move, this house is TINY, if ColoTow makes it here with time to spare and desires to see the jimmy, he'll see that they left more land than livable space.
 
How does one make one's own Bio-Diesel?

Hang in there man. I unexpectedly lost my job last summer. It was like getting kicked in the gut. Thankfully they hired me back as a part-time temp, and then a month or so later I went back to full-time. I was lucky. My bother has been out of work for months. I hope everything works out for you.
 
How is your situation going?
I see some 350's on CL for pretty cheap, did you get rid of your truck yet?
I am currently looking for a job, so besides school work I have some free time that I could help you do a swap.
I also have tools and a hoist...but no garage:o.

It's gone, the cops were being difficult and I came home one day and it was gone. tried what I could all I got was an asshole lieutenant who demanded the title or he'd suspend my license..........

It's not illegal, it's "against city ordinance" they are trying to pawn it off that they want a perfectly clean city, yet most of the down town needs a LOT of help, I have a green lawn and a clean home, yet the guy across the street from me has what i call the "Subdivision of the city dump" and why do they leave him alone? because he's a city employee, I've told my wife when we can afford a home we will move out into the county, all they ask is you don't hurt the environment, you can have as many cars as you want, wherever you want on your property, and there IS NO ORDINANCE, yes, that includes NOISE ordinance.

I myself, decided against becoming known to fight the city, I don't need the repercussions or negative attention, It hurts yes, it hurts more that I was going to have all the parts to get the old girl running again, I'm going to save my pennies and try to pay it out of impound, after 30 days it's auctioned off, and I do NOT want a scrap yard having a chance for that truck, it's too damn good of a truck.
 
Wow. Sorry to hear about that. City ordinances suck, I'm glad I live in the county and out of an HOA as well. Keep your chin up...things will get better before you know it and you'll be able to get another K5.

I've been without one for over a year now but I wouldn't give this place up for nothing, besides I know I'll get another one someday.

I was having problems with my F150, my work truck, that's another reason we bought the jimmy, my friend and I just got my F150 DONE, it's all down to small stupid stuff now, Once we have the room and the money i'll get another, I know that much........the K5's aren't just Blazers, they are a breed of their own.
