thermostat repair, (overheat)

My wife frends husbands van over heated and he poured cold water in to it, and the temp sensor no longer worked, he replaced the sensor.

but it still dosent work right, he said speraticly it will move around but not that often, i told him o check the grounds, or get a gauge out of a wreck and swap it in, but he ho-hums over it and doesent think i am right.

anything elce to tell him?

Check the wire, check the fusebox.

Maybe the sensor didn't like the feel of cold water and doesn't want to stick it's toe back in.

yeah but he did replace it.

its a crappy van, aparently his hazards dont work, but if there on an he hits the brakes they flash! i said check your fuses, and he brushed it off like that was hard
