Just for public info -- Metro, I think you know this -- the first two are CUCV's. The Blazer is the M1009, but the pickup could be an M1008 or maybe an M1028 (the latter being the designated Shelter Carrier, I think ... anybody know fore sure?)

I got these from a person at the factory they were for their use and I do concour that I feel it is a M1028.

OK checked my webs mail and I got these from GM Flint about a week ago. So here you go feast your eyes boys.

If I get any more I will post.

Hey those are cool shots Lawrence....keep em coming, and glad your back, hang tough buddy.

Nice pictures.

I was just in Flint a couple weeks ago. Not the Truck & Bus plant, but WTC (Weld Tool Center).

Here's some K5's being loaded onto the S.S. Badger in the 70's. The Badger is currently a passenger car ferry running from Ludington, MI to Manitwoc, WI (the only coal burning steam engine ship left in the United States still in commercial operation) , but used to run train cars and other commercial frieght (like k5 blazers) from Ludington to various Wisconsin ports.
If they are being loaded in Ludington, they probably came from Flint.

Nice thanks I will add it to my pics.

Actually, I just realized, that is the S.S. City of Midland 41, not the Badger. City of Midland was a predecessor to the Badger, built by the same company. City of Midland was hacked down into a barge in 1997 :( . That is the Badger's current dock though, I know it well. It hasn't changed much either.
The Buick Century's used to be built in Flint as well, probably where that Buick in the pic is from, Buick City.

Lawrence - does your Flint pal have access to '76 -'77 production records? A nice GMC rep emailed me in 2007 to say 1,555 Chalets were made in '76 -'77, but they didn't have numbers for the GMC Jimmy Casa Grande. I wonder if that info was lost or the researcher didn't look hard enough. Plus I wonder if GM kept any photos for their internal use on these...

Remind me after easter and I will try to see what I can get. Going to have to send that guy a junk food basket for all his help.

The information you requested regarding the Chalet and/or Casa Grande is unfortunately not something we have within the archive. I forwarded your request to my coworkers at the GM Heritage Center and they do not have that information either.

So I am still trying the other person. Here is a new picture for you to umm fantasize to. Body meets chassis for this 1984 Blazer

Mucho appreciated! (and hope you are feeling much better, too)

I sent a snail mail letter to the GM Heritage Center last year or the year before, did not receive a reply.

Just recently I ran across a guy who is nuts about Chinooks in general, and he is able to contact one of the relatives of the older Lukeharts who started the Chinook business. He hopes to ask that guy more history questions, so maybe we can get a production number confirmation from the Chinook side of the manufacturing.

Nice yea I remember the first time I saw a Chalet. Still like them would love to up grade one on to a 1987 or newer Blazer. Did you say at one time you knew where the company was that made the windows for them was? You might want to get what seals they have left from them.

The Blazer picture looks like it was taken same day as the burb. Look at the guys working on it front guy pants and shoes and the rear guy has same clothes on.

All-West Aluminum Products in Yakima WA. A quick google search turns up nothing on them now.

I need that Flint body hoist to raise mine up. The rubber mounts are all squashed and crumbly.....

Say, ya could rescue this one in 'nearby' Park Layne Ohio http://dayton.craigslist.org/pts/1124619750.html

Ugh...one long run on sentence with no punctuation or capitalization and plenty of dumb.

Ooooh, look at all the old pristine sheetmetal. Sigh.
Wonder if I know any of those folks...several uncles in Flint worked at GM during this time period.

That's probably a M1028 in that first picture with the shelter in the back. They tried not to use the M1008's for carrying those unless they upgraded them to the 1028 standards.
I remember being a kid and riding in the back of our vehicles as we went to Flint and points eastward to see family. There's a highway overpass right next to the big new car parking lot at that plant in Flint. We used to drive by every time and I remember seeing a sea of camo CUCV's. I've often wondered if I saw mine.
