How is it that 14bff ring and pinion gears come in 2 sizes? Thick gears and thin gears? I pulled the cover off about a month ago and forgot what mine has... I'll look at it again this weekend (it's at my ex-gf's garage for now) but I dont know what year my 14b came from (pulled it out of a junkyard in AJ).... so somebody school me on this so I know for reference... :dunno: Also how come thick gears are $192 when thin gears are $342?????
Also tell me how to tell, either just by looking at it or measuring it.

That loudmouthed guy at 4wheelparts made me look like an ass when I asked about a couple of lockers... I'll probably go somewhere else instead.

Thanks Brian

the carrier split for the 14 bolt is 4.56 so for example if you had 4.11 gears to start with and want to run 5.13 you need to get 5.13 thick gears, some people would rather run thick gears becasue there is more surface are so they dispat heat better. The price difference does not sound right what gears cost $342?

I thought just the same about the price difference..... check it out on www.4wheelparts.com for Genuine Gear...... the 4wheelparts guy couldn't explain why the prices are that way....
thanks for the tip dude! I'm putting in 5.13s so thick is the way to go
