Damnit, I bought a new lifter setup from Scoggin Dickey. They were $215 for 16 new lifters(rollers), new spider, and new guide plates. Problem is this, I just took the part number off the lifters and ran it through a random site that popped up when I searched for GM parts. $24 for 8!!!! I could have gotten myself 16 new lifters for $170 cheaper than I apid  I guess the sheetmetal spider and guideplates are worth $170

Are you sure about $24 for a full set of roller lifters? It would be hard to find a set of hydraulic lifters for that price...let alone rollers.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see that price being right. If it is, holy cow, I'm amazed, I've never seen a GM part priced that reasonably.

I kept watching GMPD for the SDPC Vortec TPI base, one day it actually popped up in their database for about $50. My friend and I both ordered one knowing it too good to be true, but hoping...he got *mudflaps* for a cavalier, my order was cancelled before I got it. Big goof up in the database, needless to say, we didn't get $50 Vortec bases.

Can't you return them for a processing fee? The spider and retainers are "hard parts" IMO, and I'd get those from a wrecking yard. You'd still come out way ahead even with a return fee, no?

I'd somehow clarify those are the right numbers though.

For that price you should buy a set, and then after you have them return the other ones you got to Scrogin/Dickey. Even if you have to pay a restocking fee, you will still come out ahead.

Go to "checkout" in your cart for the lifters. That's per lifter.

They may come in packs of 8, but they are priced per lifter, not box.

I'd take credit for it, but my cavalier mudflap buddy just discovered that when I sent him the link. :)

does he still have the mudflaps? my 99 RS goes on the frame rack tomorrow :)

Cheer up, I decided that I didn't have time to do my own brake job because my truck is going on a 400 mile trip tomorrow so I took it to the local shop...$360 later everything is ok...

Another thing to watch with gmpartsdirect is that if you find "cheap" parts they usually make up for it with shipping. I was going to by a set of the cool aluminum sbc bowtie valve covers from them until I got to the check out and saw $42.00 shipping.....

there is a big Corvette dealer just down the road, I'l gonna go see if I can get my valve covers from them cheap. Shall see.
