This is a '78 Blazer in a junkyard a few miles from my house. I didn't think to take some "before" pictures, but the "after" pics are pretty amusing. I pulled the seats and some trim from the truck, but first I had to unbolt the metal straps holding the driver door and tailgate closed. When I pried the tailgate off, the roof and both quarter panels fell toward the ground. Then I had to unbolt the top so I could get the seats out.

Yes, there are wheels and axles still there. No, the rear springs aren't broken, lol. That rusted platform in the back is actually the floor and rails, level with the tops of the quarter panels.

Oh yeah, the only thing I had to do to remove the rear seat was cut it loose from the carpet. It came out mounts and all :eek1:

Wow, you'd have to leave a sprinkler runnin' on it to make that happen around here. Oh, and what's all that green stuff near the truck? Are those plants? I've heard about them, but they don't like to grow here unless you water them.:D

You know, for the life of me, I just don't understand why people expend energy to drag some hunk of metal to their back 40 so it can degrade into this state.
You always see vehicles buried in trees/brush whatever, in sombody's back 40. How, did it get there?
This is a junkyard? Really.

I know, but then we'd never have good finds!:haha:

At least its axles are still above ground.:haha:

I have been a land surveyor for 13 years now. The stories I could tell about what I've seen on the back 40. nomads, camaros, duces, barricudas. the list goes on and on

That reminds me I should go down and take pics of the cars in the Boyer River bank not to far from here you can see about from the door handles up...thats it.

This is from a canoeing trip last summer in the Racoon River

theres prolly 20 cars in this river

Yes, the Blazer pictured is in a junkyard just down the road from where I live. I used to work at this yard (AJ's 40 Acres), and if this is the truck I remember, it's actually only been sitting in that spot for about three years. My memory could just be off, there's a lot of rusty Blazers around here.
There also was a '59 Chevy sitting about 50 feet away.

Rain doesn't even do that.. it just gets moldy and a little surface rust around here :haha:

My uncle bought a '70 Nova that had been sitting in the bushes behind a guys barn since about 1980.. no cancer, only surface rust.

here at out local mud hole theres a legend/story/rumor whathaveyou that theres a k series truck got stuck and left overnight. then the dam was opened. its said that when the water is low you can go stand on the roof of the truck and see it off the boat.

Funny, I didn't see it like that before. Impala fins on a K series truck... who'd think they'd age like that... like 90 year old people with flabs under their arms.

Well, throw on some Rust Bullet, it'll be good as new again. :D

Could be a disease, ya can grow Impala fins on a 'Vette if you give it enough fertilizer...

What a mess. I take it that it gets pretty damp in Ohio?

It's always encouraging to see one that's rustier than mine. My wheel arch edges are (were) rustier than that, though. ;)
