I'll be working on my new project soon - I'd love to ditch all the IFS crap one day on my 88' K2500 pick up.

Is this what I need to be looking for or should I be looking for an older (late 70's) Ford Dana 60 to swap in? See link.

Another question...
I have an 88' V2500 burb sitting in my back yard. Has anyone succesfully used the running gear out of a burb to do this swap? All the 3/4 ton stuff is there including passenger drop t case and 700R4 transmission. My donor truck even has a 4" lift on it also.

Thanks for the help. I just want to plan this out correctly before I start spending money and gathering parts.

Oh yeah... I almost forgot that I'm a total pic whore.

I guess the IFS section here doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. Lol.. That's okay, I'll talk to myself all day.

I have'nt found anyone that makes a kit to swap in a 10bolt chevy 3/4 ton front axle yet but I'm still looking. This would be uber cheap if I could use my 88' burb.

ORU has kits that will fit any leaf sprung chevy axle but the downside to those is the diff is on the opposite side of your front d-shaft output and therefore you will need a different t-case if you go that route. if you go ford they have kits for those as well but come in (2) different spring pad widths either 32" or 36.5" and the axle you're lookin at on craigslist will be the 36.5" and you'll have to convert to single wheel hubs. i used a '79 Ford Dana 44 which has the 32" width, for my conversion using the ORU kit. hope this helps

That does help thanks. Maybe I needed to look harder on ORU's site. I have a passenger side drop t-case (np208 i think) mated to a 700R4 out of a K2500 sub so maybe I could make this work using the kit.

Yeah it seems if I decide to go with a Ford axle I should look for one like yours with single wheel hubs. Late 70's. I noticed the different spring pad widths.
