Right now, I mow about 5 yards a week, but this summer, I'm going to get 20 to 40 more and i need something to tow my trailer, which the K5 can do, but I also need to be able to throw sh!t in the back, like mowers, leaky gas cans, etc., because I want to keep the interior of my K5 nice. I've been thinking about getting an old 70s to early 80s Chevy 2WD 1/2 ton for that, has a good engine and tranny, but has a crappy body to keep the cost down. What do you think? How much would you expect to pay for something like this?

Sounds like a good idea! Around here older Chev or GMC pickups with crappy bodies are easy to find and pretty cheap.
I'd pay no more than about $600 for a 1/2 ton 2 WD that ran OK.

Try to find a 3/4 ton if you can. Much tougher trucks..........

You should be able to pick up a fairly decent truck for $1000 or so...I bought one like that looked like someone really hated it it's whole life...I beat the hell out of it for about a year before I sold it for more than I paid for it...Ugly = Cheap...and the good thing is...if someone steals it ya don't care...they probably need it more than you do...lol...JD

You can find good trucks around here for dirt cheap. I was about to buy a 76 2wd Chevy truck for a parts hauler, but I lost the guy's number. Too bad because it was good running and was only $150.

i found one today. Its a '75 with a new engine, for $1150. Thats kinda expensive, but I could probably get him down to $700. The tranny and everything else is probably junk, though...I'll call tomorrow.
