I have an 84 Blazer, owned about 20 years, mostly stock and unmolested except engine is now a 68 327. I have two major mods in mind to turn it into my dream ride. 1 is full convertible, this hopefully starts later this summer. 2 is I want it 2wd and a bit lower, maybe next year. I've heard lots of criticism about each but I know my truck isn't rusty which is a big deal where I live so feel better making mine into what I want instead of buying something that may be a problem down the road. When I finally get going I'll do regular posts.

Look for a 2wd donor for the frame. By far the easiest way to do that swap

Agree, I'm always on the lookout, there is one here currently for sale but at $5000, bit more than I can spend for parts truck.

Wow that's interesting, wish it was closer, I'm in SC, still could be worth a trip. With all that rust showing you think the frame is ok? I saw a northern transplant truck here break in half and wasn't showing much body rust.

Take a front C10 frame section and graph that onto the 4wd K5 frame.

I think the rear spring hangers are different also on a 4x4..

I know a guy who had a pair of '78 Chevy pickups, one a C-10 and the other a K-10,and he wanted a nicer 4x4,so he thought the easiest way to convert the C-10 which was rust free, was to cut both frames behind the cab and splice them together...the result was a truck that looked like a dog taking a squat in the rear!...he ended up having to chisel off the rivets on the spring hangers and swap the ones off the 4x4 to the 2wd frame..his 4x4 frame was kind of crisp in spots too..

Said in the end he would have been better off just finding a better 4x4 complete rolling chassis and swapping the cab & bed on it..
