thinking of 8\"

I currently have a sagging 4" I was thinking of going to a flip in the rear and some brackets in the front to go to a full 8". Or would I better off selling the 4" and going to a full 8" set of springs?

Re: thinking of 8\"

you should really talk with your significant other about your sagging 4"..ck5 is a family site after all.. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif..

seriously, a flip in the rear is not worth 8" alone..

What rig is this for?

Once you get to an 8" spring, a nice ride is usually not going to happen.

I disagree, BDS makes an 8" glide ride spring.
I would say get the BDS 8" kit.

my Superlift 8" springs I used to have on my 88 rode great...ask Boss and his wife they rode in it on 8" and 39 Boggers

Even a 6" spring is pretty stiff compared to the 4" springs they've got out. Skyjacker makes a softride in an 8" too I think. No matter what, at that arch though, they're going to be significantly stiffer than 6" springs.

Re: thinking of 8\"

I got 7" of lift out of the flip on my wagon. can easly get 8" out of my burb with some 2" blocks. I'm also adding air bags for the trailering so I can fudge there.

Re: thinking of 8\"

it's for the Burb. the 3's look stuffed with bent rear spring and the diesle up front. Also it still has stock shocksfor the 4" lift /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif and some not so keen looking rear blocks. so that all has to be squared away before I go towing with it.

That was the idea behind doing flip and dropped brackets so I can keep the ride of a shorter spring packs.

Re: thinking of 8\"

Honestly, I wouldn't tow anything at all with a rig that has a shackle flip. If you're thinking about towing, forget the flip.

Re: thinking of 8\"

It's your truck, do with it as you want. Personally, for 8" I'd get the BDS 8" springs up front, and ORD 4" shackle flip + 4" springs for the rear. But thats just me.

Re: thinking of 8\"

people said you shouldnt tow with the springer setup, and if i recall correctly, someone here did some SERIOUS towing with their springer-equipped rig..
and i dont think i would try and make 4" springs into 8" of lift with extended hangers..maybe 6" springs with hangers instead..
