Thinking of buying a 98 Jeep Cherokee, any advice on trouble spots?

i say buy it; i have a couple of the xj's.

Thanks for all the info guys! We ended up going ahead and buying it! Dang, fourwheelerjeff, those XJ's are sweet looking! I think for hers, we are going to keep it stock for a year (pay it off a bit) then, it'll be time for a 3" lift and some 31's! :D For now it's gonna be stock but, we are going to get some nice Husky mats and a dog bar thingy for above the back seat. Gonna use the Jeep to haul the dog around! Here's some pics:

looks to be in great shape.good buy.from what ive heard the late 90's jeeps were the best ones out there.

Pair of D44 front (80's Waggy front & XJ D44) and rear with 4.56, lockrite front, mini-spool rear trussed, relocated shock mounts.
Custom Longarms, Highsteer, DOM steering with heims joints, 4.5" RE ZJ coils, SYE, RE 4.5" 1462 springs with drop shackles and sitting on 36" TSL on 15x10 6X5.5 bolt wheels.

HP dana 30/8.8 with 4.56's, rear welded; rusty's 4.5 inch coils and 1.75 inch spacer up front with RE 4.5 inch packs and 1.5 shackle; rusty's short arms and track bar sitting on 34" LTB's and 15x8 767's

no wonder.i didnt notice the az in your location.no freakin wonder you have no rust.i think my truck has more rust than sheetmetal.i can bang on the side and watch huge chunks fall off.lol
