Thinking of doing the unthinkable... *Rotor to cap gap. Normal?*

LOL! Pissing you off!? I been fighting this stupid thing for 5 years! Im hoping to get some poor sap on cl to buy the thing for $250. But what I would really like is to pull it out as a unit and keep the harness in tacked so I could put it on a test stand and keep messing with it.

I hope you are either kidding or you are going to offer full disclosure.

This thread started me thinking and A light bulb went off. years ago my dad built a bronco and had a 302 built. thing ran fine one minute and sounded like yours the next. he fokd around with it for 3-4years before yanking the motor for a 393 swap. when he pulled the motor apart one cylinder looked like it had been bored egg shaped. even had hone marks still on one side. He had done comp tests and I'm not sure about leak down:dunno: but the tests were good. dont know if yours was boered or not though. just thought I'd throw it out there cause his motor seemed to defy logic too. he even took it to shops and they scratched there head and gave it back:doah:

I havent read the whole thread, but I'm not doing chit today so I'm going to:popcorn:

Lol well enjoy! About selling the motor on cl, I promise you I will let the "poor sap" know everything that I know! I'm not going to be deceitful at all. I just meant poor sap as in, who ever buys this motor will likely underestimate how easy it will be to fix. I'll post the cl add here for all to see. Furthermore I am hoping I can sell it as a hear it run thing so that people know exactly what they are getting themselves into. Don't worry. I wouldn't wish this upon anybody!

Does this look normal?

Did you ever get this figured out? I was searching for threads that would help me figure out my own issues, but I ended up reading the whole thing a couple pages at a time. I can't even imagine the frustration! I really hope you figured this out.

To answer your question, no. In my heart of hearts i think it had some crazy thing to to with either the cam, intake, or the wiring harness at the ECM. But no, i never could figure it out

That'll do it!

Sorry, I only get on here once a month or so anymore, so I miss a lot of stuff. Seems I don't have as much money going toward the truck anymore (funny how that hapens when you get married and buy a house:rolleyes:), and getting on here can be dangerous for me... so many ideas- my mind just gets rolling, then I have to rein it back in or I'll end up spending money I don't have...
