I have an 88 v20 suburban that i just installed ord 4" custom springs, xover steering and their front sway bar. I need new shocks and have been thinking about the bilstein 5160s or the 8100s. Is it worth the money to jump up to the 2.5" shocks? The suburban is setup for overlanding which means i do a little of everything as far as mud, rocks, desert, fire roads and street driving. What do you guys think?

There is a first gen guy that started with 2.5 smooth body's with ord springs, then jumped to bypasses. His seemed to really like them with dune running.

Yes, 2.5 body shocks would help on a heavy suburban for sure. I would buy the threaded body shocks, that way when you decide to 4-link it, all you have to buy are the coil carrier kits.

I have Bilstein 7100 remote reservoir shocks on the front. They do pretty good, but I've been thinking a lot about jumping up to 2.5" shocks.

Is there anything i would have to change to mount the the 2.5" 8100s up? ford towers on the front, everything else stock

If the ford towers dont work how are you guys mounting the larger diameter shocks?
