im thinkin bout welding the boxing plate to the motor mount brakets. not the motor mount it self but the triangler box boltd to the frame. would this be a bad idea. im goin to try to avoid welding to the ord crossmember tho. so i can swap it out for a big block one if i decide to go that route in the future.

why? boxing around the area where the mounts bolt to the frame would be a good idea I think, but the mounts themselves have strength in their design by having a couple reinforcement bends in them.

well i thought since thers a gap between the boxin plate and the bracket it would be prone to crack right there?

hmmm, this is how I did mine:

Seems like boxing those mounts would make them difficult to bolt on?

.

hey zim, off topic question. what color are you painting your frame parts? I'm looking for something lighter (so I can tell when there is oil or dirt on it), but not something obnoxious. I like that color in your pic.

wow that is clean! how did you run your brake hardlines? im just cuting around them and making access holes

The color of the frame is a single stage Nason Urethane...a custom color mix I picked off a chart, somewhere between Olive drab, and desert tan.

I made custom lines out of stainless, but it has a tendency to leak at the flares, was a real pain to get them to stop leaking..

wow that is pretty! ya im not a fan if flaring lines. i never had one not leak. idk if it was the tool i rented from autozone or what.

stainless makes it 100x harder.. I wouldn't do ss without my Mastercool tool...

i'd be leary of welding it...

i'd be concerned about stress riser cracks on one of the pieces due to putting heat to that small area with 2 large pieces on either side that may have a tendency to flex a bit with a small union...

moreso than the frame cracking due to a noncontinuous reinforcement, or gap... but hey, wouldn't be the end of the world, burn it in and keep us updated...

ya that is a good point. well i guess we will see what happens and how it pans out. im goin to try to get as much welded to the brakets as possible. i mite even try to get a bracket from 81 and up(the frame on mine is a 79btw) chevy that mounts the hard line thru the frame on the outside and i wonteven have to worry bout makein a access spot to get to it. unless theres another reason i can do it that im not thinkin of right now. since i cant go in the garage and look cuz my k5 is 90 miles away in my girlfreinds parents garage.
