This blows, I\'ve developed a vibration

And I can't diagnose it for another two weeks when I will finally have a day off. I'm hoping for either an out of balance tire or u-joint, I'll cry if it's the rearend.

Mine only vibes when a u-joint is on the way out...

i had this wierd vibration once, and i found that one of the tabs on the rear yoke that holds the caps in was worn a little, check that,

Re: This blows, I\'ve developed a vibration

Did you change anything before the vibration developed? If not, I would suspect an out of balance tire first. You are also correct that a failing U-joint could do it. There are many possibilities like banging the driveshaft offroad etc.

Re: This blows, I\'ve developed a vibration

Nope, nothing changed. The left rear tire is getting changed first, then a u-joint check. I just hate having to wait this long to do it. I had it on the road yesterday and between 70-80, the vibration was unbearable.

It's possible you could have knocked a balance weight off, so you are right to do the tires first. Just go piece by piece eliminating as you go.

I just changed both U-joints in my rear driveshaft thismorning. I've got some slop in my rearend that I don't like. Maybe that'll be my excuse to get a 14 bolt FF.
