This can't be good

If the moron would have done it right, he should have inboarded the rear springs. I'm betting the tires rub against them pretty badly.

Just like the tires rub the springs in the front?
No, no. Think about the distance between the center lines of the springs.

31.5" on the front.

42.5" on the rear.

Now think about it. The rears are out 5.5" wider on each side. That gets the tires rubbing right on them, easily.

Wow, that thing isnt dated at all. "Restored a few years ago" when did 25 years become a few. Its just a tar baby anyways, bet its never seen dirt since it was finished.

The springs are 11" closer together on the front? I always thought the spring spacing was the same (or close) front to back but I've never measured it or anything.

Go back to that auction and look at the pics of the rearend.

Look where the spring perch is mounted.

You will notice its NOT on the stock perch of the front axle.

Obviously the rear can't steer as far as the front, but who says it has to? Look at a Quadrasteer truck. Those springs are way out there. The rear turning angle is small, but it still makes a big difference for the vehicle.

I can't see in the pics what steers the rear axle - probably hydraulic tractor steering - but it seems like you could set it up for whatever amount of turning you wanted.

i saw that truck on ebay also. whats funny is i remember that truck from the mid 80's it was a feature truck in petersons 4wheel and offroad, it had 44" d/c fun country tires on it and it was not rear steer. it may have even been on the cover. dont know why i remember it but it is definetley the same truck.
