FINALLY got the 454 in the crew today and got it running. I put a set of headers on it, and after I put them on I noticed that the collector is rather close to the yoke on the front axle. Axle is forward 3-4", if stock location I'd think it would hit at ride height.

Only solution I see (other than getting rid of the headers) is little bit more lift. I have a zero rate, but don't think that's gonna be enough.

just curious why you went with a driverside drop? as for the issue at hand, it looks like even a normal 60 would have a problem clearing that header. is it A regular square body header or a donor.

pm KGBlazerfive, he has a big block and a HP 60, I believe he has headers too.

One reason I used that axle because it was free. If it was a pass drop or even a low pinion driver drop, it wouldn't be this close.

The headers are for a truck, fit like a glove, they went on without lifting the motor. Only had to move the plug wires around.

I might just put the manifolds back on....

I cant really tell from the pics if they are them but hooker makes headers that stay up in the frame rather than dropping below the rail.

Well, you could always just finish everything up and then go out and hit a few hard dips.

Bet everything would "self adjust" real quick.....

Yeah could always to that!!! But that won't be for a bit yet, still have alot to do. I'm gonna try the mall flex, see how close it is. Most likely gonna run the manifolds, they look like a header, so maybe they will flow decent......

Completely unrelated but... Geeze, what did you do to tear up the pavement like that?

I have to work on the truck at my mother's house. She had the driveway redone couple years ago, and then couple weeks ago had it resealed. Where the truck is now is where I park all my projects, and it takes the most abuse. When the guy was there doing the sealing, he filled in any divots, low spots and cracks. Just so happened to find a hole that was filled in with the wheel of the cherry picker. It was hotter than hell yesterday, so the fill was really soft. Having probly 1000 pounds on the picker was like a hot knife thru butter.

Oh and one the rear casters fell of too, so that's more weight on the others.....

Many years ago, a truck line made a really heavy delivery to the local air force base.
Don't know what was on the flatbed, but it was heavy.

The base would not let him in as late as he got there, so they told him to drop the trailer inside a secure area and come back the next morning.

On a blacktop surface.
The driver's truck did not want to start the next morning, so he got there about 11.
On a hot Fl. day.
The landing pads were all the way down to dirt when he got there and his truck would not fit under.

I had a service call at the building it was parked in front of, and I asked the building chief what they were going to do.

He said that they had one crane on base that would handle the load, and it was on its way.
From the other end of the runway.
ETA 5 hours!!

Really slow crane!

I know I need to fix it or won't be able to keep anything there anymore.....

At least I'm gaining some ground getting the truck done....but still long way to go.
