what style and size you running? what tires do ya clear?

my roomamate has a 85 ex cab he is looking at 1/2 ton swapping dropping a v-8 into it.

52" front springs, my axle is pushed WAY forward, can't use mine as a gauge for anything but an offroad rig. I'm going to fit 39s or 42s... I'll make them fit, haa.

he's going for 35-37's with as much lift as needed to clear.

what steering box do they use for crossover. isn't it the astro box?

you can use the stock one if the axle is put in pretty much the stock location, either the 2wd or 4wd, they are the same steering box and both work just fine with crossover.

The astro box is for guys who push their axles way forward. My axle is forward I think 5" from stock and I need to go another inch or two to really get good steering angles with my Astro steering box.

He may want to consider a front shackle setup. I set my rig up as low as I could with the rear shackle setup, and it was a pain in the butt.

He's going a hair forward to clear the 37's but he might run my toyota rear springs up front if i part it.

Here's ours. Rear springs from a 69 F100. 52's would swap in, but that would move the axle back quite a bit. These had a offset center pin. Otherwise, I think we'd of had to redrill the main leaf if we were using 52's. Don't laugh at the flex pic. There's no front drive shaft, open rear diff, and stock shocks had the ole one-tire-fire giving us hell pretty quick.

Anyway, we're clearing 35's easily, and I think it'll be fairly streetable. Still need to add a block in the rear to level her out, then mount shocks and it'll be getting close to done.

Waggy's. From an 81 Wagoneer we bought and parted. She was a $212 beauty...

Had a D44 and a HD AMC20 with 2.73's.
