For those running Detroit locker in the rear.
Since I've gotten my K5 drivable, it has what I would term a very slight drivability issue. All in all, I have to say, it's the best driving 73-87/91 4x4 chevy I've ever driven, with everything brand new and gone thru, from ball joints/TRE's, steering shaft, steering gear, steering column bearings, axle bearings, brakes, new d-shafts, spring bushings, springs, shocks...everything, literally. No vibes, no shakes, no wobbles, brakes straight and clean.
But, one thing I notice is after taking off hard on acceleration, on the street, or letting off the gas some, it tends to shift directions slightly, almost like a snowmobile following ruts. I would almost term it darty. Only upon heavy input or letting off of the accellerator. My springs are skyjacker, so they're soft, I know that, but it just seems a little off when the truck seems to track a certain direction without more input from the steering than what seems necessary. Of course, I'm a little more anal than most when it comes to drivability issues, even on new cars. I hate vibes/wobbles/poor steering or braking feedback...drives me nuts.
My guess is, it's the Detroit. I've never driven a truck with one, so I dunno, and with everything new, I can't say if it's that or something else.
Is that a general behavior of a Detroit on the street?
