I am swapping a 700r4 in place of the factory th350. I am wondering how others who have done this swap hooked up their sgift linkage. Are you able to shift to all gears? I know I can hook up the factory linkage, but won't the steering column affect the ability to shift to all gears? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a '77 that I put a 700r4 in and just used the stock linkage. There was enough travel in the colum to reach all the gears but frist was close. I had a frend with a '78 K1500 that did the same thing and he had no problems. He also went to the dealer and bought a gear indicator from a newer model and put it in his gague cluster so he has the D with the little circle around it.

/forums/images/graemlins/k5.gifi swaped from a 700 to a 350 and just used the stock linkage i think i might have used the lever from the 700 but i cant remember i hope this helps /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

When you unhook the linkage off the tranny, you'll notice the column shifter is now loose throught the whole range...
The detents or "clicks" are in the tranny not in the column shifter...
The only problem you should have is the needle won't line up right where it says P-R-N-3-2-1 or whatever.
