I have a TH350, 37's, with 4.10 gears, not my DD, but I drive it to and from the trails. I was wondering what gears you guys are running with similar set-ups, and if you like or dislike how it drives. Mine does good on the freeway , but is sluggish around town and on the trail. I'd like to re-gear just not sure how low to go. 4.88? 5.13?

my blazer is on 40s with 4.56, i like it just right for everything.

my dually is on 3.73s and 33s for the time being, it could use a little more oomph at 55 which is where i like to cruise. but 65 its got teh ballz.

I run a t400, 38.5s, 205 with 4.56s... It does alright, but never gets driven on the road...

I'm in the middle of building a doubler though... Should help...

TH350 NP241 with 4.56 and 40's

Great for the road as far as cruising RPM's its close to stock.

I have a hard time crawling some things on the trail.

When I had my 40s (39.5 iroks) I had 4.56s and it ran down the road just fine, certainly no power house but the rpms were not too high on the road.

Crawling sucked with a 203 but a doubler fixed that problem, now I have 42s and 4.56s and love the setup, certainly a little sluggish but with the doubler crawling is no problem

350/TH350/NP241 with 38s in my K5. It works pretty well for an all around street and trail truck. I plan on going to a doubler though

edit: 4.56 axle ratio

TH350, 205, 35" tires. Speedometer is right on, sucks gas @ freeway speeds, but not bad at 65. Doubler in process for better low gear on trail. Have 3/4 ton axles w/ 4.10 gears, but don't want to swap the higher gears in.

what ratio you got?

and who has the 4.88's in the poll? what's your set-up and how do you like it?

3.08 with 33's right now. Sluggish.

will be 4.11 with 36's this weekend. Hopefully that feels a little better. th350

Axles came with those gears in em.
4.56 would have been better i agree... but hopefully it isnt too bad.

I'll be running 40's with 4.56's, T400, and a doubler....and I'm thinking it should be ok on power with a 461:D

worn out 250hp 350/350/203/205. 4.88s. 5900lbs.
pretty nice with 42s. 2700 rpm at 60mph. descent performance
it's little low geared for the 39s that are on it now for long highway driving.
it's about a 45 minute drive, all highway, to the local wheelin spot.
i dont think that 2500-2800rpm cruise speed would be a problem. my 350 has about 20,000 miles of it's 270k with this gear setup.

Last K5 I owned I had a 350/TH400/205 5.86s and 44s. It wasn't too bad all around but not great on road or off road. Went to ag tires and 7.17s and quit driving it on the road, worked better.

looks like a lot of guys would rather build doublers than re-gear. why not get an aftermarket t-case instead. would cost about the same, be easier to install, and weight a ton less

I've got a healthy 400, th350, np205, and 5.13's turning 44 TSL's. I'm very happy with the all around performance.

I got 4.10s and 38s, but I have enough engine to get it off the line. I want to put 4.56's or 4.88s in it, but cant decide, its mostly around town, but when it does get on the interstate....its already deafening.
