I am having a difficult time trying to figure out where to mount mine. It is this one:
It's 17" long

I already have the stock oil cooler and a transmission cooler hanging in front of the a/c condenser. There is no room between the frame rails below the radiator because of this and the winch inside it:

I also have 2 6" pro comp lights mounted underneath the panel that the hood latches to (the name for it escapes me at the moment) and they mostly fit behind the grille with some trimming. They are mounted right in the spot the stock horns are mounted. No pic at the moment because I finished them in the dark today. I was looking for a place to put the cooler, but I haven't figured anything out.

Does anyone have a similar cooler? Where is it mounted? Let me guess, on the radiator support.

I got this cooler specifically because there isn't crap for airflow when crawling. It only gets driven on the street like once a month, and then it's only around town.

I can only think to mount the cooler vertically behind the grille in front of the radiator, but I haven't done any fit tests.

Thanks for any help or flaming.

In front of the radiator is good, the mechanical fan has LOTS of air pulling power and being in front the radiator is even better.

you removed the factory cooler from the truck? the simple tubes running back & forth across the bottom of the radiator support?

Personally i would just mount it where it will fit, a cooler like that is going to do a pretty good job on it's own even without airflow over it for the power steering.

I tried to put an extra one inline once, only to find out the line size was too small for adequate flow and made the pump whine and didn't work, make sure the openings and such are big enough :doah:

I am running a large trans cooler for my power steering. I mounted it in front of the radiator where your transcooler looks to be. One thing to remember with the GM power steering pumps is if you have them in bypass as in when you are full lock the fluid does not circulate thru the cooler and can overheat really quick. I have burned up around 4 pumps in my truck over a few years.

I had to remove it when I was replacing the leaking lines about a year ago. I couldn't find the proper replacement anywhere, so I chucked it.

This one will gone in one the return line and it is the same size line as the stock return line is.

That's the first time I ever heard of that, thanks for the heads up.

i have a small trans cooler mounted beside the radiator on the inside of the rad support. there is some air flow over it due to some holes in the rad support. but im pretty sure its big enough without direct air flow.

If I bolt this in above the reservoir, do I need some sort of check valve to ensure it doesn't leak or is it a bad idea and it will leak even with a check valve?

i have heard that they will over fill the resivoir when the engine is off and the cooler is mounted high. mine is high enough that maybe 1/4 of it is higher than the pump, but i havent had a problem. i think it would be something to consider.

That is what I am trying to prevent, but I can't seem to find anything but a fuel line check valve. The guys at Jegs said they will work for the power steering lines though, just have to make sure I get the right size. Similar to this

Aren't the P.S. caps vented?

If so, then I think the fluid will drain if you mount it higher than the cap...:dunno:

i wouldnt say vented, but they dont seal really well.... now that i think about it they might be vented. i know my dodge was. if you overfilled it it would shoot out the middle of the cap.
