What area of the state are you hunting? I have hunted out of miles city area to the powder river down to broadus. Hunted out of great falls to the little belts, dupuyer, and the bob marshall wilderness area. Hopefully in then next couple of years I get to hunt montana again. My friend Eric lives in great falls. Beautiful country you live in. I wanted to move there but my GF said NO EFFIN WAY, too cold.

this is all just South of Colstrip.

Went Chuckar hunting today. Hunted a canyon about 10 miles from home. Didn't get any birds but i took a pic of a nice 4x4 buck and his harem. Click on the pics to maginify. I was 150 yds away when i took the pic. Would have been an easy shot. Deer season is over here. I'm glad that big ol boy made it.

Here's the Northern California semi-coastal terrain I hunt. It's a lot steeper than it looks.

I learned to hunt in that country. Mostly Humboldt and Mendocino county. Lots of deer
But
Had to be careful of the pot farms and crazy hippies with shotguns.

How did it compare to Nevada? Even though it's all green in the pics, I'm sure that you remember that during deer season it is hot and dry, with tempertures in the 90's a lot of the time. I watch these show on the outdoor channel, and these guys sit in a stand over a beanfield and just wait fot the deer to appear. Meanwhile, I'm hoofin it for milesover rough, steep, hot terrain. And if I get something, sometimes its a mile drag to the nearest road! I love it just the same. Wish we had some bigger deer, or elk.

Damn, I haven't been to this forum in ages and I miss it. Here is what I hunt in. Eastern Oklahoma. Thick oak woods with lots of tangles and hills. About the most beautiful place to sit in the woods come sunrise.

Yes, I'm a pic whore. Got him last season and will be looking for his next generation in November when the season opens.

Like this? My buddy found a couple thousand of these while hog hunting this year. Two arrested at this plot that lead to another plot not fr away. He found another one last year in an area near by. All run by Mexican nationals.

Wow. It's been awhile since I have checked this thread. Anyways, My inlaws live in Sapulpa, just outside of Tulsa, but my FIL has a 1000 acre lease on a private 12K acre ranch. He has had it for 35+ years and I have been hunting with him since I married his daughter 10 years ago. the lease is about 12 miles Southeast of Cookson, OK. He has a top notch set up considering we have no electricity or running water. I am actually leaving in several days to fly out to OK to help him set up deer camp for the start of his archery and black powder season and I'll be out there for the rifle season, from Nov 19-25 then back to Cali for turkey day. Let me see if I have any pic on this puter of the camp.

Nope, none on this 'puter. I'll have to get them off my work PC.

One thing that has kinda got me freaked out is that the last several years there has been quite a bit of sign of black bears on his lease and I am just waiting to see how big a skidmarks I can get in my undies if I see one while creeping through the woods before sunrise this season.:eek1:

Cool! They've opened a 20 count bear season down here. They were at 4 about a week ago. They've become a nuisance in the area.

Check this out:

Good luck huntin'. I may actually go rifle hunting this year. Haven't had the time the last two years. I'd have to agree on the skiddie situation lol
